my dog is reactive when a loose dog approaches her because she's been attacked twice by loose dogs, and yes, it definitely has kept dogs away. You don't even have to actually spray the dog - i just spray the air at the dog and they hate the smell and run away. i think it works great and carry it on all our dog walks.

Q: I want to protect my service dog from aggressive animals. What are the possible effects on my service dog from using this spray?

To be honest with you, I used this spray on my dog and another dog when they were going at it in a park (emptied almost the entire container directly into their faces), and it did ABSOLUTELY nothing. I had to end up jumping in myself and taking some serious bites and puncture wounds to my hands and arms (GSD vs Karelian Bear Dog). The spray was only about two weeks old. So, in answer to your question, at least in my experience, you don't have to worry about any harm to your dog, since it was totally ineffective.

Q: I can never finish a can before it quits working. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone received any resolution with the seller?

I can never finish using it because the red thing on top falls off.

Q: Could this be sprayed on the lawn to deter dogs from toileting? How long does the scent last? Walkers ignore the signs we've installed.

This is not a deterrent for dogs toileting. It's a quick spray to deter aggressive dogs. There's probably something on the market to spray on your lawn to deter dogs from toileting. Check it out, I'm sure it's out there.
