Q: Will it still work without the control knob?

Yes but why? That knob is extremely beneficial and is the reason I chose this converter.

Q: where does the bass level knob connect? the amp or the converter....pic doen't show

The knob will connect to the LOC2SL. If you have additional questions, please call Scosche at (800)363-4490 Ext 1.

Yes, this device should work to turn the high powered output into a normal signal-level output that you could run to a receiver.
