Essentials of Clinical Anatomy of the Equine Locomotor System 1st Edition

I wish I knew about this book sooner. I love it. I can only translate so much anatomy in my head from a cartoon drawing. I needed this book badly when I was in school. For some reason I don't think it was ever mentioned. There are palpable landmarks, sagittal and transverse sections (especially helpful with the distal limb when comparing for ultrasound), radiographs and the standard drawings. It also makes mention of vessels and nerves which werent always clear in relation to the structures around them. I feel this book will take a beating since I will use it often.

I purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my farrier. He is very interested in all particulars regarding horse locomotion and how various things can affect the horse's mobility. Although his specialty is the hooves, so many things can affect how a horse moves and uses his feet. He was absolutely thrilled with this book. What more can I say? Well, I found out about it from an artist that sculpts horses. She uses it to get the best representation of the muscles and ligaments in the horses legs.

This is book excellent for what it is, an anatomy book. It is clear, has an amazing number of views, including xrays and dissections. It does not explain the purposes of the structures, but it is an amazing resource. Much better than searching online for comparable pictures. If you even value your time a little, this book is a must have reference because it is so clear and has so many views in one place.

Diagrams and illustrations are nice, but nothing beats looking at the real thing for anatomy reference. The photos are clear and easy to decipher, and the side by side labeled/unlabeled system is quite helpful.

I can't believe the quality of the information and pictures. It's something you would see in $$$$$$$$ vet text books.

A must have for equine vets!!!
