Q: Hi there! How long will the matrix be 'good' for? If I purchase it now and form them, will they be okay for my wedding in June?

The matrix keeps indefinitely. It ships moist in a plastic bag. If it is dried, it can be re-moistened by wrapping in wet rags and allowed to absorb water.Once the seed balls are made, allow them to dry and they should keep a year or more.

Hi there, Nope, it isn't really a fertilizer. It's for making seed balls which are balls of quality soil containing seeds. These helping make planting easier and gardening fun. If you don't want to use seed balls for your first garden, that's just fine. Loosen some soil in a sunny spot, pull out any existing plants. You can add some compost if you have some. I'd start with some easy and fun to grow plants like sunflowers, radishes, cucumbers, squash, peas, beans, and lettuce. If you would like some perennials see what's native in your area of course, but black eyed susans, purple coneflowers, and yarrow are some great starter plants to grow from seed that pollinators love. Always keep the soils moist, but not sopping for the first months of a plant's life as the plant builds its root system. Hope this is helpful! best wishes on your gardening journey!

Q: can you add color to make the balls more festive?

We dust our wedding seed balls in flour as they dry. We have also had some success with colored starches such as those used in India and Color Runs. These can stain though, so this limits their utility. It is possible to paint the seed balls with dilute poster paint, as well. This might affect fertility, but for something like a sunflower, I think it would be fine.
