Great Knives!
I have a number of Wustof IKON knives. They are great steel, hold an edge, and are easy to hone. This combo was a great addition. 7" chef knife is a workhorse for cooking for 1-4 people. Seller (DaSalla's) got them here fast. Overall, excellent purchase.

Know yourself, know your chef knife
I've owned a 10" Wusthof classic chef's knife for literally over 20 years and I love it. However I'm in a location where everything is cramped and I wanted to try something much smaller and that I could compare to a Japanese style vegetable cleaver (nakiri) so I could replace my chef and nakiri at once. The Classic Ikon set is much lighter and the blades much thinner than my original set. This has pros and cons so it's really helpful to understand exactly how you cook. You'd think smaller and lighter was always better, but it really isn't. Where this chef knife excels is slicing citrus and tomatoes so I think of this as a "bar prep" set. What the Classic 8" does much better is chopping and mincing. It is a food processor without the cleanup. The Ikon just can't keep up with it.If you are tight for space, and do cooking for 1 or 2 people and very little long term prep work this is a good set. However, if your cooking style is to prep veggies and herbs a week in advance so you can whip together meals on demand this is not the set for you. In fact you may find yourself frustrated and working much harder than you would otherwise. The weight of the Classic Wusthof chef's knife, in an 8" or larger version, is a real help when you need to power through bunches of cilantro, parsley, carrots and potatoes or mince several cloves of garlic at a time. The 6" nakiri I use is also just a better chopper. The additional weight of the slightly thicker rectangular blade will chop through lettuce, carrots and mince like the best of them.
