With a $103.50 instant discount, the total price dropped to $241.49, which was too hard to pass up, so I purchased it immediately.I don't have a custom loop, but the heatsinks on my motherboard are more than adequate to keep the drive cool. After removing the custom water block, I installed the drive into a dedicated PCIe 5.0 M.2 slot which utilizes data lanes directly to the CPU.The benchmark application of my choice is CrystalDiskMark, with version 8.0.6 being the latest release during the time of testing.Test Type: NVMe SSDProfile: Default - Read&Write [+Mix]As you can see from the picture, the test results show that theCorsair MP700 PRO SE is a stellar performer, beating its own specs by a considerable margin. It's so small! Stays very cool with the active cooling. Extremely fast transfer speeds. Not a single complaint. Also icue compatible as far as temp sensing goes.

The read and write speeds live up to the expectation: pretty much double samsumg 990 pro as it's gen 4 and this is gen 5. However the tiny vent fan mounted to the heat sink makes so much noise that it's louder than all of my 3 big cpu cooler fans, 3 front panel fans, and 1 vent fan combined, then times a factor of 5! Eventually I just pulled the fan power out which doesn't make much difference anyway (only 1 degree difference under normal load and I don't stress it too much). Another classic example of making a great product but nickel and dime on the seemingly nonessential items which is not good.

I ended up returning this because it was completely OVERKILL for games these days. Maybe in a few years these will be much more useful but for now if you're a professional editor, photographer, work with 3D rendering, any kind of hugely taxing read and write projects, get this. Other than that, it's not of use to many gamers now. The speeds were tested and they matched as advertised. I think it's a great product!
