Optics Great but Range Disappointing
Description says 1000m and 10x optical zoom. At 400-500m and zoom up to 4-4.5x, optics are fantastic. However, things drop of rather dramatically from there. As zoom increases beyond 4.5x, clarity drops off to the point I might know animal is there at 600m and 8x, but that’s about it. This is on a clear, no fog night. At 1000m and 3.5x, things are there , but it’s hard to be sure of much.Web says 6.5 hrs of continuous use battery life. I’ve only used it once, but I used it for three hours intermittently on for 3-5 minutes and on standby the rest of the time. The body of the monocular got very warm and the battery charged dropped to 25%.I have two thermal scopes in this price range that do not come close to the clarity the Zeiss has in the 400-600m range. Just my impression, but my view of product descriptions going forward will be to take manufacturers description of maximum capacity and cut it in half. If that meets my needs, then it’s a great fit.
