Try a product called Color Oops. It's a color remover.

Q: Will this work on african American Hair? And is one box enough for short hair?

Haven't personally used it on african american hair. However, it does have a lot of good oils in the color and conditioner so I think you would be good using this. I have shoulder length hair but thin and one bottle works great. But I think if your hair is thick you might want two.

Q: I have medium brown hair with copper-red highlights. have not dyed hair in 6 yrs. intense auburn 69...anyone have opinions of personal experience?

I have used this for 6 years. I add blonde highlights a day after I color my hair. I really can not say but the only statement is the color on box is true to the before and after.
