Just Read It!
Written from a unique and rare vantage point, this book has it all. Action, Intelligent analysis, Quick sharp wit, and most importantly a proper reverence for those who paid the ultimate price. If you are a history or war junkie this book is for you. If you want to read about someone's first-hand experiences in the worst situations, this book is for you. If you want to see how a first-class warrior thinks and behaves, this book is for you. What this man survived is incredible.

Incredible
Amazing story of unsung heros. The danger they encountered while running missions in southeast makes for an exciting read. These men really were the best America had. I salute their courage and will always be grateful for their sacrifices.

Good SOG read
Your introductory pages are very explicitly unapologetic regarding the content your readers will read, so why do you camouflage the profanity that was certainly a part of the dialogue at the time. Very disappointing and frankly rather silly looking.

well written and exciting
Most such stories are not that well written. Most of the authors are not really deep thinkers. This author is, but he doesn't over indulge in examination of his navel and seek deep meaning in the lint found therein. He manages to get to the meat of the matter while still offering a little inside to what goes on in the participants minds. Looking forward to book 2.

You can't make this up
Dick Thompson and I served in Vietnam during the same time period. Unlike Dick who was in Special Forces, I deployed to Vietnam with the Third Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division. Upon our return we were both assigned to the US Army Infantry School's Ranger Department as Ranger Instructors. We met there and became friends. During our free time we went SCUBA diving, and panned for gold in the streams around Dahlonega, GA. Learned that Dick is not one to embellish. His quiet, thoughtful demeanor and strong professional discipline were evident in all that he did.Once I began reading this action packed book, I couldn't put it down. Besides describing his missions, I especially liked the detailed description of the planning and preparation, necessary to complete the mission successfully. I frequently found myself asking why Soldiers were tasked to perform missions with such high risks. The do it because despite all the fire power from artillery, and airstrikes, there simply some things that require boots on the ground. I recommend this book to all young men who may be considering an Army career in Special Operations.
