Great for hiking and a compact mirrorless camera...
This is my second capture clip v3 in the family. One is for use with a rangefinder style APS-C and the other for an SLR style (though compact) APS-C camera. Works great for our use case of backpacking and hiking using multi-day, day, or lightweight bicycling hydration packs. Especially useful if you're the type that uses hiking poles in both hands. Super simple to clip the camera in and out of the unit. Recommend adding a tether/leash of some sort. I use a coiled, plastic wrist thing for keys (you see them on kids for their book bag animal things all the time) that I bought at the local drug store. If you hike/backpack and want to keep a compact camera handy and yet still want to be able to use both hands when not shooting; and don't want to worry about your camera swinging into a rock; then this is an essential accessory. VERY well built, thoughtfully designed, and well-engineered. Highly recommended even at the high cost.UPDATE - 3 years later it is STILL my favorite accessory for my camera (aside from hoods or lens adapters). It has never failed and has kept my X100T safely on my shoulder strap during arduous and easy hikes from Pinnacles in CA to Mueller Hut Route in NZ.

Peak Design Capture Camera clips v3 work superbly
I got the first one for my wife, so that she wouldn't have to continually hold her Nikon B500 on the hand strap. It worked out so well for that I've purchased two more and also an extra plate. She has hers mounted on her camera backpack strap. One of mine is in a similar position on my camera bag's strap. My other one is rigged onto a chest carrier for the camera that has the longer lens. The mechanisms are easy to apply to straps. The locking and release mechanisms work easily, and are very secure.

Very impressed with this versatile product
I bought this for rucking. I typically cover 4 to 10 miles, so I needed something that could support the weight of a professional camera. I can move this from my excursion bag over to the sling bag easily and quickly. It supports the weight of the camera so that I barely even feel it. The mount is secure, the product is made from very sturdy materials, and it’s easy to install and move from one bag to another.I briefly considered buying two plates, but it’s so easy to move, but I really don’t see the need. it comes with two sets of screws, and I recommend using the ones that Require tightening with the enclose screws and Allen wrench.

Awesome... except
The functionality of this device is amazing. I backpack a lot and having my A6300 one hand accessible is a dream come true. It pops off and on super easy. However1. The unit is too small. Maybe I should have bought the older model. It barely mounts to my backpack strap. I actually have to mount it lower than I want since it won’t fit higher on the strap2. Only an Allen key to remove it? Come on. Really? I need to carry a tool? A wide slot for a quarter would have been a better design. I just took my camera to use with a tripod at my daughters soccer game and guess what? Couldn’t use the tripod because I couldn’t get the clip base off the camera because i forgot the wrench!!3. Similarly, couldn’t it have been designed with a female 1/4” thread in the base so it could also be used with a tripod and you don’t need to remove it?For as much as I love it I may return it. I use tripods enough (even backpacking) that to always have to remove the base with a specific tool all the time is a deal breaker. Too bad... maybe V4?Update to 4stars: I got a Quick Release Clamp for QR Plate for my hiking tripod so I don’t have to remove the plate as much. But it all adds weight. A slot drive to remove the plate would still be nice

Quality!
The Peak Design Capture Camera Clip is easy to use, functions as described, looks good, and is made with attention to fit and finish. The clip has a good heft to it without being clunky. What you’ll find in the box: base plate, clip, hex key, 2 longer (approximately 20.3 mm) long bolts for use with thicker straps, and a small pouch. The camera it is attached to in the photo is a Sony alpha 6100, as you can see the clip can be positioned to allow for full functionality of the screen.Using the baseplate and clip is easy- simply slide the mounted camera baseplate into the clip, a small click locks the plate in place; and for added security the locking pin on the clip can be turned into “locked” position. The manufacturer suggests mounting the camera lens down, but the clip can accommodate the camera mounted in any direction. This clip is the second Peak Design purchase I’ve made and I am very happy I’ve chosen their line for my camera gear; it’s well made, looks nice, and works well. After using my clip for a few weeks, I can say I’m happy with it and I would definitely recommend it!

I didn't know I needed this, until I gave it a try. Now, I can't live without it.
Fanf*#@ingtastic. I love this thing. To be honest, I stumbled on a review of this thing during my youtube binge, which, I admit happens a lot, and ends up costing me more money. Buuuuut I digress. This time, it was all well worth it. This plate is so incredibly thin. It matches my camera (Olympus omd-em1) perfectly. The latch itself? Top notch. Its as secure as secure can be and Im comfortable hanging my camera and a larger lens from it. Build materials, top notch. Machining, top notch. Functionality, top notch. This plate is an arca Swiss compatible plate, so it works on all of my tripods. I plop this on and it stays. One thing noted from other reviews, on a larger strap, you may have to bunch it over. Will it do it? sure. Is it pretty? Depends on who's asking. Other than that, the only gripe I have, and its a mixed bag, is the plate has no security tab, or option for a screw for a security tab, for arca Swiss heads. I have to be dually careful to make sure I don't have my tripod oriented in a way that it can accidentally slide out, and make sure the clam is on tight. But, if it had this tab, it wouldn't sit so pretty on my desk. Honestly, I love it and it gets used all the time.
