They are handy!
These are portable and do keep a minimum range of 1-2 miles. I take these on fishing trips when I don't want to holler at my BF and has multiple channels in case we bump into others using the same frequency. Very easy to use!

Horrible in both range and battery life.
Bought for my son and a buddy of his who lives about 3 blocks away in the same neighborhood, because I’m old enough to remember Tom Hanks and his buddy in “Big” in the 80s and thought it’d be kinda fun for them to have something not cell based or online (he’s a bit young for that in my view).Doesn’t reach 9/10 times, forget about the mile or two range as advertised. Fully charged both die very quickly, a couple hours on standby.I would return, but I’m not going to go thru the hassle. Wouldn’t buy again, for sure.

Review
Tiny but very useful when you don’t have cellphone coverage in the area! They are small so not big and bulky like the professional versions, but highly recommended

Compact, work well overall, some menu options not intuitive or easy, unknown build quality.
I've used a lot of portable radios, from inexpensive consumer units like these, to very expensive commercial/industrial grade units. These are definitely at the bargain budget price point, yet do work ok for basic communications. The menus and options are not always clear or easy to follow using the keys, and sometimes it takes some experimenting and false starts to make the choices you are intending to make, and get the options set the way you prefer. The instructions are mostly clearly written, yet the menus and options in the radios don't always seem to match what the instructions are describing. One thing lacking is a clear and easy way to lock the keypad so the keys aren't accidentally pressed. This is quite an inconvenience. Another thing I noticed is that the "flashlight" is just a tiny bulb that doesn't put out much light, and doesn't appear to be an LED, as advertised. The compact size means the three AAA batteries are a fairly small power pack. If you are doing a lot of communicating over several hours, you will want to carry extra fully charged batteries. The main positive feature for me is the very small size, good sound quality when used at close range, and the USB recharging option. For my needs these radios are a good economical choice.

Worth the money
The distance covered by these units is unbelievable. Planning on using them on my cruise!

They work but..
Very basic walkie talkies. They work but the range is very short, it seemed to go maybe 20 yards before all you get is static. Tested this with my forklift operator and when he was only 50 feet or so away we still had alot of static and feedback with a clear line of sight. For children who play around the house or such these would be. But for adults and trying to use in any professional capacity these don't cut it. Definitely need something better if you need to stay connected with someone.
