Q: How long do the lights stay on for? I have seen some models where they shut off after 15 or 20 seconds. Are the batteries and light(s) replaceable?

The lights stay on for exactly 20 seconds by either tapping the jet or clapping your hands twice. The lithium batteries are fully charged in one hour by a USB cord which is supplied but the plug is not supplied. If you want to charge it by plugging it into a wall outlet you will need an android plug for the USB cord. When charging it, turn the jet upside down you will see a switch, keep it in off position, plug it in and a little red led light will come on. When the red light goes out it is fully charged. There is no way to change the lithium batteries which should last a very long time and led lights usually last forever. If you want the batteries to last even longer keep the switch in off position. These are really nice looking planes and nicely detailed but I don't recommend these jets for children. I hope this helps.

Q: Does the landing gear retract?

Landing gear does not retract, but you have the option of not putting the landing gear on. The only problem is that the nose gear doors cannot be removed or closed. Hope this answers your question.
