Works perfectly for connecting Surface pro 10 to Ultrawide display
Great little device - I use it primarily in my home office to connect my work Surface Pro to my Dell S3422DWG but it is also great to throw in my bag when I travel to the office or on business. Not used for gaming with high refresh rates but for work applications it works perfectly.

Great little compact design. Good brand name.
This review is for: Cable Matters Foldable 8K USB C to HDMI Adapter Support 4K 120Hz and 8K 60Hz HDR, Portable HDMI to USB C Adapter, - Thunderbolt 4 Port Compatible, Max Resolution on MacBook via this Adapter is 4K 60HzI ordered this Cable Matters Foldable 8K USB C to HDMI Adapter and it seems to work as promised. I've never had a bad product from Cable Matters, so grabbed this adapter rather than similar ones. The compact design is really nice. The adapter is smaller than it appears in the pictures. It supports the latest standards including 4K 120Hz and 8K 60Hz video, as well as surround sound audio like Dolby Atmos, DTS:X.The price at the time I got it was $25.00 which seems pretty high, so I'm giving it 4 stars. I haven't tried it on my largest monitor yet, but I expect it will work great.I hope this was helpful.

Not for Me
I'm sure this thing works perfectly fine but I should've realized that the USB-C end DOES NOT go into a display. It only goes into devices that have display over USB-C functionality, so things like phones and laptops. I was trying to use it on Xbox Series X or PS4 and realized that I'd still need to use the one HDMI port on My portable monitor and it would not work the way I was hoping. That's My fault, not theirs.

Defective out of the box
I purchased this hdmi adapter in anticipation of being able to hook my tablet up to my TV but I didn't ebd up using it for a couple of months. As you can guess by the title the thing didn't work. There weas no signal getting through to the TV, I even tested it on multiple devices. This one is a hard pass.

Plastic housing, but reliably outputs 4K @ 120Hz 4:4:4 HDR10+
Connected from a Dell WD19TBS dock's USB-C video output port to an HDMI 2.1a enabled display, I can confirm that this works. I have not yet confirmed VRR support. I do not know if it is the dock or this Cable Matters adapter, but the computer now indicates that there is no HDR certification. HDR output still works, however. This is perhaps the only standalone USB-C to HDMI 2.1 adapter available, so I can ignore that the housing is standard polypropylene plastic. I would have preferred anodized aluminum.

One of the rare adapter can help MacBook Pro M1/M2 output true 4k@120hz 10bit HDR
You need to contact Cable Matters customer service to get the custom firmware to get it support 4k@120hz HDR over HDMI 2.1, which a lot of us have 4k OLED Tv as desktop desperately need for years. This adapter is using VMM7100 chip and Plug&Play after firmware update.

RTX 3060 8k 60Hz working. Good!
Did have to set my tv to "expanded hdmi input" in order to get it to display above 4k. Using a Dell XPS 17 with a RTX 3060.
