Q: Is there any zippered pocket inside the zippered main pocket?

No, there is no inside pocket of any kind. There is an outside, open pocket to carry a water bottle. We used this for an overnight bag and it worked fine except that the woven straps are about 2" wide and were not comfortable under the arms to carry as a backpack. It does pack nicely into it's separate pouch. Hope this helps you.
