5 stars so far with very basic testing, radio works well, it charges my dead phone in about 2 hours. Crank works well. Flash light seems pretty bright. Will test out durability over the next 20ish days while camping.

I'm very impressed with this emergency radio! I ended up buying several of them as gifts as well. We had two very long electric power outages last week and this radio was perfect! The high beam light worked great, and the radio as well, so I was still able to fold laundry and even work out in the dark! Highly recommend this product! A+A+A!!!

The knobs keep falling off but otherwise it's an inexpensive alternative for better models.

So bought one like this before and it was obviously a piece of crap novelty toy that wouldn't hold a charge and charged sloooow as all hell on the crank. I expected similar from this and since the other would be dead after a day or so on a full charge I expected this to do the same. Got this one and I let it drain till it was dead with the flashlight then tested the crank from dead and after a few cranks you could already hear the radio. The other one I bought was so bad I didn't expect this at all, you would have to crank a ton and barely got like a min of radio. This one there is minimal cranking to make it an effective radio. As for battery retention, I just pulled it out of my bugout bag after sitting in the closet for a 15 months (without light so didn't charge through the solar panel). I thought no doubtedly it will be dead but shockingly the light and radio still worked fine and the low battery indicator wasn't even lit. Not only that but it still would charge my phone with the supplied cables plus a separate lightning cable at 5 Volts .3 Amps which isn't very fast but it'll get your phone back on in an emergency. The only thing I'm not a fan of is that the radio charges through a mini USB cable instead of a micro USB cable, and mini USB cables just aren't commonly found nowadays. Other than that solid radio, great emergency or camp light. Great for the glove box.

Necessary and important features

by Marjorie's hubby: Have only used this a little but it worked very well when I did. Easy to tune, good enough sound. I keep it at a remote Alaska cabin to get weather reports and in case I need to charge my phone. A crank-able flashlight will be handy out there as it gets dark in the fall. I had it sitting in the sun and it played well for over an hour while I cut weeds around the place. Seems like the solar panel really helps. Crank works well. I planning to buy several more to share with friends. I like the size and light weight. I held back one star 'cause I can't speak to durability yet. I wonder what freezing temps might do to it too. But for $20 I can afford to experiment this winter. 9-17 -16 UPDATE: Its still a nice little radio but once the capacitor was depleted it was hard to get it charged up much. I did use it to supplement my cell phone a little but it was a lot of work, didn't add a whole lot and depleted the charge to the radio. Solar panel is very slow to recharge and I had to crank it a lot to listen to the radio much - reduced rating to 3 stars. Wishing it could take 2-3 AA batteries also. So this time left it out where light can hit solar panel and maybe over the next few weeks it will recharge. For a first time buyer I'd suggest finding one that takes batteries. But this is sure compact and with some cranking I was able to get a couple hours of news while I waited for the rain to quit. And as a phone charger its not very powerful. Might be better to get a dedicated solar panel or something - tho soon in this part of Alaska we won't be getting a lot of daylight for a solar panel to be much help.

Charged easily and quickly with solar and USB. Crank charge is a nice feature to have if that is all that is available. It charged my phone to full in about two hours and I was at 40%. That was actually impressive. Not stereo sound quality, but it had all the essentials. Several local weather stations with up to date info and radio was just ok. Glad to have it in a pinch and actually lost power after a storm two weeks after I purchased it and it proved itself. I was glad to have it. I did not expect much when I bought it, but it was great to have on hand in a power outage. Good value for the money. Very basic device.
