The coal scuttle wasn’t a heavy duty metal as described, quite light weight really,on reflection, at least I can pick it up easily. Also I need to make a point for those who have decided to order this item because it has a free ash shovel, mine did not come with one??

After a couple of years struggling to fill a large under counter water softener with salt tablets I hit upon this coal Scuttle.Filling the softener is now a one man breeze rather than a two person struggle with my wife using various bits of cardbord and a bucket. I wish I had thought of this years ago and give myself a pat on the back for ingenuity. Recommended.

We ordered two short scuttles for ordinary coal and two taller ones for anthracite the short ones for anthracite were exactly as ordered nice wide handle for lifting.The taller ones were ordered with the wider handles as my arthritic hands complain however the scuttles supplied are ok but come with the the thin handles which are quite painful to use.

The top handle cuts painfully into your hand when bucket is loaded. Very poor design.
