Boost Monkey Gold Heat Tape High-Temperature Heat Reflective Adhesive Backed Roll, 2" x 15' Roll

The tape starts falling off the tubing starting on the second day. The adhesive just doesn't react well to heat. I like the gold coloring, but thats all this is. I had a rare opportunity at work in a major laser optics lab to test this using a Perkin-Elmer 983 spectrophotometer and cary 6000 spectrophotometers using the IR lamp (heat) wavelength. Using a gold reference (for High reflectivity) and BK-7 prism reference (for anti reflectivity), this tape sucks for reflecting IR. It did reflect around 20-30% at 800-1200nm (near IR heat), but after that,1200nm-5000nm IR (heat spectrum) It absorbed the heat waves (0% reflectivity) at angles 8°,13°,30°AOI. I can't measure 0° as that would be impossible.

If you take your time and measure twice then you can stretch the 15' length pretty far. I have a 4" diameter cold air intake that is at least 3' long and was able to wrap 3/4 of the way completely. I cut it into 1" wide strips and it turned out pretty good with minimal wrinkles. The adhesive seems to stand up to the engine bay heat pretty well. I haven't had it on long enough to do a real comparison test of the iat's with or without it but it seems to help deflect heat from the radiator tubes which run underneath. I would recommend it for the price, the slight improvement in heat deflection and if you're into it the "flash".

Nice tape, easy to apply but damn near impossible to remove from metal. The reinforcing strands/fibers in the tape will adhere to the surface of your vehicle and will take hours to peel off. Be sure of where you want to apply this before commuting.

Tape sticks great to metal or itself. Not so great at sticking to plastic parts. Wraped air filter box to keep engine and turbo heat out. Any piece of tape not overlaped by at least 1" of tape is pealing up after only three days (6-7 car rides under 10 minutes each). Will have to re-wrap edges or pull all off and go to 3M brand.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this tape. The adhesive is much better than the DEI stuff, and it feels a bit tougher.

Sticks well, seems decent quality, easy to work with. I don't know about effectiveness but it is pretty thin so I don't expect miracles. I used it to wrap wires and CPS (notorious to fail due to heat on my vehicle). Th

Great for intercooler piping and air intakes hard to not get wrinkles when wrapping unless it's a straight pipe but function over form
