Pricey but worth it
I bought these curtains to use as a temporary door until our glass door was installed in our bedroom. Unfortunately the door was custom designed and the opening an odd size so it’s been a huge pain. The designer is also super old and cranky, he does not like to be rushed and gave me a 4 month timeline 🫣. Also, the glass was hand etched in a design that matches the other glass in. The room. Our house is all wood floors and we don’t have carpets and solid color doors (the original owners decided to have all the doors glass and because of that closing a door does nothing to block noise at all. After a month of living in a home where I could hear my dogs clacking around downstairs (she is 14 lbs and it sounded like we had a 100lb Great Dane living here) it was soooooo bad I could even hear my husband when he got off the couch. At night my cats were going crazy ruining our furniture (I had no idea) I could hear them race around the basement floors and they usually are silent. So I had enough and decided to do something before I went crazy. I did some research and learned fabric absorbs soiunds more effectively than most people realize. So I started with heavy velvet curtains put in the doorway. Unfortunately, they did nothing. So I said to myself I am going to spend the money and buy 4 sets to layer for noise reduction. Did not work either, finally I found Moondream curtains. What I like 1. They insulate the room so well we were able to lower the air conditioning by several degrees which made our bills $100’s of dollars less and our room temperature was kept at a steady temp where before it fluctuated multiple times a day. 2. They are very sturdy (I have washed them over Sox times and (the labels explicitly say they are not to be washed) 3. They are very heavy, weighing so much that I had to purchase a curtain rod with screw because the tension rods could not hold them. The weight is a good sign there are four layers of fabric and the inner fabric is the insulation (I wanted the 4 layer type because I needed as much sound absorbing possibility I could find ) 4. The velvet is thick, and a quality material, it can get marks from pressure like if you grab them with a wet hand but they easily are smoothed out using a fabric steamer 5. They block odors, my husband loves sneak those gross 🤮 cigars when I am out of the house and it would take a few days of open windows just to air it out, the curtains block the majority of the odor and once I had them flush on the ceiling the bedroom smelled just as good as it did on the days he wasn’t smoking cigars 6. If installed properly they look rather nice, and they block all light so that’s also a plus.

Would buy again
Great color. Very thick. I live in Tucson Arizona and it blocks out the sun wonderfully. The noise reduction it does a little bit. Worth the price

YES, it significantly reduces noise - by about 30% of what a wooden door will do!
YES, these curtains do indeed significantly reduce noise. The noise reduction power is obviously not going to be as good as a wooden door, but the curtain has about 30% the noise reduction power of one. That's not bad considering it's a curtain. I have tested them extensively, because my sister has a loud 2 year old, and these curtains are helping me immensely. I placed two of them about 6 inches apart in the hallway next to my door. I don't hear the 2 year old playing anymore. When the curtains are open, my room door doesn't have enough power to reduce the noise enough. When I close both curtains, there is a huge difference and I rarely hear anything. If you are using only one curtain by itself, don't expect it to completely block sounds. But it does reduce them, and you can easily test this. Put up the curtain in a hallway, and turn your vacuum cleaner on about a few feet away. Then open and close the curtain and you'll hear the drastic difference. And by using two curtains together in that way, you get almost the same noise reduction of one typical wooden door, or very close. This is impressive because all other curtains I have used produce no significant noise reduction at all. So for all the people who claim this doesn't work, they are either blind or they have very unrealistic expectations, thinking this curtain would somehow reduce all noise to zero. Not even a door will do that.As a tip, if you put these curtains in your hallway, place the curtain rod at a slight angle towards one end, and make sure the curtain sits about one inch off the ground. This will allow the curtain to close all by itself after someone pushes it aside when walking by. I did this myself because my sister would never close the curtain. But by slightly angling the curtain rod, gravity pulls it shut. You have to then use some string or something to tie the other side of the curtain to the end of the curtain rod so that it doesn't also being to slide, but that's easy to do. In the end, you have a very effective sound barrier if you place two of these curtains 6 inches apart in a hallway, and they always remained closed if you angle the curtain rod a bit. I also have one of these in front of my door, which also helps. It's a tight squeeze depending on how much room there is for the curtain rod, but you can usually make it work. You can be very creative with these things and where you place them. You can also use a number of pinching clips to shorten the curtain to any length you want.

Would have rated it 5 if it werent for one thing!
These curtains did exactly as advertised! They stopped the cold draft off the window, reduced the noise from the road, and made the room much darker when the lights are dimmed! They also look great when open, however, when closed they are very flat and dont show any folds so I order two extra panels . With all four panels they look great when open or when closed! It was definately worth the extra money to me. Having the extra thickness in the folds when the panels are closed not only looks great but also helps with the sound reduction, draft from the window, and sound from the outside.

Pretty curtains and block much outside sound
these are high quality, heavy curtains that are a pretty color and perform as expected in blocking noise.

Noise cancelation
We put two curtains together to try and block out noise, It muffles it but doesn't get rid of it all together.
