Yes, a steam iron is necessary because the steam moisten the glue on the back.

It does not come with the iron on glue. But you can get many fabric glues at a lot of places. Because you intend to wear it in the rain, I would suggest that anyway as many patches that have the glue as part of the patch is not that durable especially in the rain. I would also suggest regular Super Glue, but MAKE SURE you have something heavy to keep it pressed AND let it dry for at least 30 minutes to get properly secure. an hour would be better.

Yes. This is just the type of emblem one would find on a letterman jacket. It's stiff and sturdy. Very good construction.

You can set the temperature as "COTTON" degree (around 160℃-200℃). You can also put a cloth between the iron and patch/clothes to protect your clothes. Press the iron with 12-15 seconds without steam. When the patch cool down, check it. If not ironed well, you can iron again.
