I don’t know the weight limit but I got it for my 5 year old who is 39 pound and small for his age and it’s way too small

Q: does this work for an 90lb kid?

Will it “work”? That depends. Will it bounce or can a 90lb kid make it bounce etc - I believe is what you really want to know. The balloon (the base of the toy) will hold me up at 240 lbs, so “working” is up to the kid. Bear in mind that the motion of the toy requires the rider to keep it upright whilst riding. The hardest part of riding the toy is balancing whilst bouncing. It will roll over readily, but that is the fun part. Practice and repetition (like so much in life) will make the toy enjoyable - as long as the 90lb kid is willing to put forth the effort.

Q: Does this just come with the whale and pump? I thought there was something to put under it for beginners?

It comes with a pump but nothing under it. Are you talking about something they can fall on or something to balance the whale?

Q: Anyone know the weight limit for riders?

It’s quite sturdy. Bought it for my 5 yr old, but my 10 yr old is able to ride it. Hope that helps
