This book is a must read! For those who is searching for "truth", please read this book.If only people knew "the power of spoken words", we would be more careful of what comes out of our mouths.

This is inspiring to read. This book is good for the thirsty soul. I am blessed with reading it and highly recommend.

There is a tremendous library of self-help books available today. Much of the advice and wisdom you find in these books can be traced to the works of Florence Scovel Shinn. Like her other books, Florence wrote The Power of the Spoken Word in very simple terms, reflecting the simplicity of the philosophy behind the ideas. The language may appear outdated in some passages, but the messages are timeless. Anyone who is struggling to understand life and how it works will find answers here. As they say, open your mind and "Be ears that hear!" This book can change your life and you won't need the countless others out there. They all have the same message but Florence really captures the essence of truth and makes it accessible to all. Perhaps that is why so many have tried to repackage her ideas. Why bother with those? In the same vein as Ernest Holmes, Mary Baker Eddy, R.W. Emerson, William James and others, Ms. Shinn offers sage and practical advice on a wide range of topics common to all people. She is especially astute when it comes to prescribing ways of nurturingrelationships. Her work has a Christian emphasis, invoking the words of Christ to make a point. Yet she tempers the religiosity withvery real daily challenges that rely on universal qualities of compassion, love and understanding. She offers some good advice on money matters: how to gain wealth and hold on to it. Well-written by one whose soul and love shine throughout.

This book is amazing and really gives one hope. I like that its spiritual and she speaks of God and his wonders. I also read by her 'The Game of Life and How to Play It' I can read these books over and over as I stated there's so much hope in these words. I believe with God all things are possible and the Bible and these books enforce that belief.

This book is very "now, " although the author lived in the era of my grandmothers. Spirituality and religion are subjects which interest me greatly, and Ms. Shinn offered a point of view on several things which hadn't worked for me before regarding Christianity. There is a lot in the book which, if adhered to, would make me a better person in my everyday life. I plan to re-read this book over and over, because I feel there is that much value in its content.However, the book must have been outsourced to New Guinea for proofreading, with a multitude of glaring errors. This book deserved better.I 'm happy that Amazon made this book available to the modern reader.
