If you have a Windows 10 PC and need an external CD/DVD drive, this is the one for you! There is no need for a separate power cable or bulky adapter.A few additional thoughts:- Just as with any CD/DVD drive in Windows, you must have the right software to read from or write to discs. This is not a limitation of this product - it's a well-known and long-standing "feature" of Windows. The instructions sheet that arrived with my drive included recommendations to 3 separate CD/DVD software players. If you are unable to overcome this then you should contact your child or grandchild for assistance!- I would highly recommend purchasing a padded carry case for this drive if you plan to store or carry it. Just like any other electronic equipment it could be easily damaged from bouncing around in a laptop bag unless it's properly protected. I found links to several of these cases in the "Related Products" links on the Amazon product page.- The performance of this drive is much slower than internal drives. Again, this is a limitation of the design (external/USB), not a deficiency of this product.- The cover of the model I purchased is White, like really White. I couldn't tell from the product photo whether it was gray or white. My laptop is gray and I was hoping to get a match, but there didn't seem to be a gray option (only black and white). This is not a problem, just an observation.Bottom line - this product works exactly as expected and is a perfect solution, especially for this price point!

I tried the other cheaper drives and despite what they say about working with Mac, they don’t. This drive did without issue and even had the correct cord as they others did not. I have a 2022 MacBook Air running os Sonoma 14+ and I was able to see the drive within a few seconds. I was trying to read a cd rom with X-rays on it, and I needed to download a (free) program in order to see the pictures but that took 2 seconds. Just google the program you need to read Xrays and it will pop up. Small and not noisy. I’d buy again if I needed another one for some crazy reason.

This external drive is just fine for playing or ripping old music CDs using Windows Media Player Legacy (I did NOT buy this to watch DVDs on my laptop). Once it's plugged into the USB-A or C port it is very easy to access and use with my Windows 11 laptop. Just as fast/responsive as older tower or laptop CD drives. Good build quality, and small size is perfect for travel in my laptop bag. Overall good value for why I use it.

Unlike the Apple product that I just threw out, this has a drawer that opens to permit disk access. That eliminates the problem of a disk getting stuck. Other than that, not much to say. It works, and it's much less expensive than the Apple product, which is in any case no longer available.

I was looking for a CD drive to read several old cds before disposing them, so this was intended to be a “one use” purchase. This was a cheap and satisfactory option that worked well despite a significant issue. It was advertised to be compatible with an Apple laptop. After several failed attempts to connect, I searched and found out that Apple did not support the device on newer platforms. Fortunately I still had an old iMac desktop in my closet that worked well with the CD drive, so I was able to read my old cds.

I like that it is compact, easy to set up and that it has the cable attached. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it only rips with ITunes and not Windows Media. It is still a great product for a reasonable price.
