When I went online to find the right tool for a project, I ordered three different items, one of which was this center punch tool, a single punch tool, etc. I simply needed to punch a hole through a few layers of Velcro and canvas. When I received this, I thought it was completely useless and for my purposes, it was! As I set about to write my review on Amazon, as I usually do, but fortunately I looked it up first and found:An automatic center punch is a hand tool used to produce a dimple in a workpiece (for example, a piece of metal). ... When pressed against the workpiece, it stores energy in a spring, eventually releasing it as an impulse that drives the punch, producing the dimple.It is to set the center for further drilling through whatever material. How brilliant! I subsequently used it for exactly that purpose on a stubborn door jamb, and, all of the sudden, I am less ignorant! 5 stars because I am grateful for the education and it works for the intended purpose.

I was lured in by the price and how quickly it was delivered for the project I needed; you’re better off with a hammer and finish nail. This thing worked for one punch, then offers close to zero resistance. I put it right back into the package it came in and sent it back.However, if you have time to buy it and not have it work I would try it out. It may work for you, but not likely after prolonged use.

This tool worked perfect! I typically dont drill much into cars, but recently I did install a spoiler on my 2020 Corolla Hatchback, and was required to mark 5 drill points. I did clicks per mark, then drilled the holes out. The drill bit was stable and I was able to precisely drill into the marked points.Also used this to help install part on front bumper, and these tool once again came in clutch, allow us to precisely mark and drill holes. Highly recommend this tool to help marking drill points precisely, and allowing drill bit to have great drilling point to start initial drill hole

The center punch is comfortable accurate and good but just a little tip I used a 40 grit tiger disc and beveled the tip a bit. It only makes a tiny punch. And I had to come back and hammer another center ounch after for the drill bit to drive right. Its still very comfortable accurate and for the price LOOK NO FURTHER. its a great product
