Great Product and Absolutely Incredible Customer Support
I build high-end work station computers for myself and others. For several years, I've been including one of the dual-tray Icy Dock enclosures in every system to simplify swapping solid state drives used for backups and mass data storage. The Icy Dock enclosures are of high quality and are easy to install and use. That alone made me keep buying them and also telling others about them. Recently, however, I needed some of the very small screws that are used to attach a solid state drive to the removable trays. I contacted Icy Dock's customer support and received a response the very next morning. Peter Thong, a member of the USA Tech Support Team, was one of the friendliest and helpful tech support reps I've ever worked with in well over 50 years of working around computers. Within a few days, I received the screws in the mail. Although I'd offered to pay for the screws, Icy Dock sent them to me as a valued customer at no cost. I was already a BIG fan of the Icy Dock products but now even more so. Thanks Peter and the rest of the Icy Dock team.

Perfect and not just for the money
Money well spent! I had to improvise with other screws, the ones they provide were too short for my Optical to floppy conversion bracket. Beware tho, its easy to put in the caddy the wrong way around and break it if you try and force the lever close. It is a sturdy build but it is not knucklehead proof. The quality for price makes me want to buy the large RAID options, and I have no use for RAID. Activity lights DO work, but only for drive that support it e.g my $25 SDD does not but a seagate 1TB HDD does. ALSO if you have a seagate HDD that is 1TB yet uses 1 platter (super thin) its garbage. model SDC001. Guess what, took me 5 seconds to unlock and pull that drive from my pc to read model number. Here, watch me put it back. HA! took 3 seconds, cause I did not lock it. Words cannot describe what a luxury this is. Removing a drive from any PC should be this simple. I constantly have to disable a drive or pull one, usually for installing an OS and dont want boot sectors written to my personal drive. IT HAS HAPPENED despite best efforts and it can really muck up your day. Now I need more caddys.

Built like a tank, but a little rough around the edges
This hot swap enclosure fits nicely and is built like a tank, though the drive sleds could stand to be a bit smoother as they can stick a bit when installing or removing them. Also, it appears that the access light does not function on the unit, though I cannot tell if that is an actual issue or a side effect of having an SSD with high transfer rates installed in the sled.

Garbage fans used, 2 fans dead within 6 month window
Appears to be well built, installs easily. But the quality of fans they use are trash. Has 2 of the 4 sata ports fail...When the fans fail they make a loud pulsating terrible noise. I RMA'd last summer, and it just died again in the same exact way. If they used decent quality fans... Sadly i don't recommend at all.

Freaking awesome. Replace that old 3.5" floppy drive with something useful!
Freaking awesome. I have a full tower case. In these days of tiny little wimpy cases and itty bitty laptops, it's nice to own a mid/full size tower case full of drives, with six fans pushing air through and lit up inside like an Xmass tree. I have room for six hard drives, 2 DVD/Blu-Ray drives, and my XM radio. BUT - alas, the relic of this older case was the 3.5 inch floppy drive, whose only function was to plug a 3.5 inch hole, as the bezel cover was long gone. What to do? Leave the ancient drive sitting worthless in the front of the case, hogging valuable room? NO! Enter the ICY DOCK 2.5 inch drive holder. I removed that old piece of crap floppy drive, and bolted this thing right in. Gone is the diminutive 1.44MB drive, and in it's place is a slot capable of holding a 2TB SATA drive. Works just like high-end server drives: push the button, grab the handle, and pull the drive from the slot. GREAT for backup drives. Right before vacation, just pop out the drives and leave them in your desk at work in case of fire or burglary or the rapture. You'll have all your stuff when you get back. Flashing lights when in use make the computer even more cool and nerdy. Ordering a second one to replace my other 3.5 inch cover currently covering a space occupied by an old 250GB drive.

difficult to remove drives
i love the concept and bought two so i could have six hot swap sata SSDs up front in my server case.problem is that it's always a struggle to pull out the drives because they get stuck inside. i think some mechanisms in there needs improvement. these work with only thin size ssd drives like the samsung 870 evo which is what i was using with them.note that the power connector end needed from your power supply to juice up this model is the type used for floppy drives from the 90s.

Very high quality product
Wow! This looks and feels like a very high quality product. It was a bit more expensive than other similar items but the reviews convinced me to buy it and I'm so glad I did. This fits great, looks great, and is very functional. Only downside is that you must insert the drives in a removable tray, but that is far outweighed by the construction and usefulness of the device. Highly recommended! Besides, what else are you going to do with the floppy drive bay?
