Nice, thick putty pads
These putty pads are nice and thick, thicker than the major competitor's comparable putty pad product. We use them for improving the acoustic performance of electrical outlets. They are heavy and quite sticky so they work well for this purpose. The only aspect that's a bit difficult with these is that because they're so sticky it can take a bit of effort to get a hold of the edge of the plastic wrapper to peel it off. However, this effort is rewarded because that same stickyness that holds onto the plastic wrapper also makes these stick really well to drywall, electrical outlets, wires, and framing, so the actual installation is a breeze. It's a great produt.

I lost everything in a house fire in 2017, not taking another chance.
While soundproofing and remodeling one of my rooms, I stumbled upon SpecSeal, a product renowned for its ability to isolate sound traveling from outlet boxes to the framing studs while also serving as a fire barrier in case of electrical surges.Working with SpecSeal can be a bit messy; it's notably sticky and resistant to washing off due to its waterproof nature. It leaves behind a thick, sticky, and oily residue that stubbornly clings to your skin, impervious to soap and water. Thick latex gloves are a must when using this product, as it can shred thinner gloves. However, despite the messy application, SpecSeal proved to be exceptionally effective for its intended purpose. It allowed me to successfully soundproof my room and eliminate the excessive bass frequencies that used to reverberate throughout the house. I have a powerful hi-fi setup with a subwoofer and a couple of 700W bass guitar amps with a 4x10 cab. Prior to soundproofing, this setup would shake the entire house and rattle the windows. In conjunction with SpecSeal, I also utilized double drywall (two layers of 5/8"), a 5-gallon bucket of Green Glue, Rock Wool insulation, and acoustic sealant for baseboards, joints, and windows. The final piece of the soundproofing puzzle was using SpecSeal to block bass vibrations from the electrical junction boxes. An added benefit of SpecSeal is the peace of mind it provides in terms of fire safety. Knowing that it can either extinguish or at least delay an electrical fire is invaluable. Just buying an extra minute or two during a fire emergency can make a significant difference, as I tragically experienced firsthand. An extra 20 seconds could have allowed me to retrieve crucial documents like my ID and car keys, sparing me the arduous process of replacing them.In conclusion, while SpecSeal may be a bit challenging to work with due to its stickiness, its effectiveness in soundproofing and fire protection makes it a worthwhile investment. The added safety it offers in case of an electrical fire is a compelling reason to consider using it in your home.

Sticky, Dense and Large Enough to Cover Outlet with about 1/4" to 3/8" thickness
Easy to work with, and enough putty per pad to cover outlets nicely. Very sticky! Consider getting some Nitrile gloves before working with these, it takes the yuck factor out. Nice that they do not make a lot of odor, nobody will know that they are in the finished wall.If sound comes through the outlets, I'll update this post.

Good thick putty pads. Value for the money.
These pads feel like twice the thickness and weight of the Flame Tech pads. Very heavy and thick. The only downside I could find is the consistency is more like play dough and thus when you pull off the plastic wrap the pad will tend to curl in and stick to itself--so hang it like a diamond and pull the corner down helps. It is not as easy to put onto a outlet since its weight collapses onto itself so you have to be careful. Very pliable and easier to work into holes than other pads--so good for working around bundled cables. Very sticky so wear nitrile gloves--make sure they are not too thin since this stuff sticks and could tear a cheap glove. I ordered these since I ran out of the other Flame Tech and happy with them. Not sure how pliable they will stay long term, but not really worried since I am using acoustical caulk once drywall is up around outlets and in the holes. All of this done to stop sound transmission to other room.

Messy so where disposable gloves
But the stuff works great! It makes a huge difference. Everyone that I talked to about it said that the safe n sound was enough, but I could still hear a lot from the other rooms. Between this and using calling around all the edges, you can hear anything but deep bass through the walls.

Easy to use, sticks really well and dense.
Easy to use, it's a dense putty just haven't had a chance to see how much sound they actually block. Not sure if you could ever tell if the putty is the thing that made the difference or not on sound but I'm sure it helps covering the box instead of a bare box.

Smells Like Cancer
Smells terrible, like horrible chemicals that if you were around for more than 10 minutes, you'd develop tumors. Sent back and expected a refund. These guys hit me with a restocking fee. It was not at all clear this would be the case. Then, they said they issued a partial credit, which never showed up. Amazon asked me to follow up with the seller. The seller, from his iPad, was no help and said I'd have to take it up with Amazon. Professional, eh!? Avoid...
