The pencil will work fine. Your question is more specific to lead type, such as HB - there are many different types ofLeads in varying degrees of hardness, softness, and darkness. The harder the lead the less likely it is to smear, but will also not be as dark. Make sure you order lead in the same diameter as the pencil. I've been drafting for 40 years. The pencil is fine-basic.
