Happy with the quality and spec - after many hours researching!
Spent weeks researching hair dryers after I dropped my faithful 1700 watt Turbo one which snapped one of the internal supports that hold the motor in place. I have no doubt that it would have gone on forever had this not happened. I didn't realise it was Parlux as I had bought it through a hair dresser 10 years ago, but after searching the model name and images, I realised that's what I had. I looked a similar priced ones that are competitors to these but having had such good service from my dryer, I preferred to stick with the devil I knew. Although there are high street dyers with the same spec, I just wasn't impressed with the reviews they got. I used to straighten my hair just with a dryer, and I have long, very thick, frizzy hair, so my dryer was my savior for many years, but I have since discovered the delights of straightening irons, so the pressure was lifted from needing a dryer that performed miracles - this model seemed to sit in the middle of their range. Not too hot with more power than I needed but powerful enough to dry my mop quickly and create large curls if I wanted them. This dryer, although called "compact" is almost the same size and weight as my old one, slightly shorter handle, a little hotter and more blow power. The weights quoted are without the cord, which is a bit misleading. The only thing I can fault this on is the shiny, very smooth body. It would be all too easy for this slip through your hand, as unlike a hairdresser you have to keep putting it down and picking it up to work through sections of your hair. It would be much nicer to use if it had a rubberised outer and it would stop it moving on a smooth service. To combat this I stuck those little silicone drawer bumper/buffer stoppers around the handle area and even used the backing sheet you are left with when you remove the buffers. This has given it a firm secure feel when using. Apart from this I love the dryer, it feels familiar, heats up well, has enough variation in the settings for most uses, and the blowing power is plenty for me. It hasn't made my hair smoke, so it's not doing any damage. The brand has a good reputation and although it is far more expensive than the ones you can get just about anywhere, I feel the longevity of my previous dryer justifies this. As a footnote, I managed to glue the old one back together, so it now acts as a spare in the guest room and it's still going strong!

They last for eternity
Bought this after my previous hairdryer died on me after only 2 years, and its replacement set on fire, so I was looking for something reliable that won’t burst into flames. So far so good. Feels about same weight as the average hairdryer. VERY powerful! Four heat settings. You have to turn both cold settings on to get the hot settings to work, I thought mine was faulty when it arrived until I figured that out. Overall pleased with it, rather spend a bit more for something with a reputation for long lasting quality and no problems.

A salon finish. Fantastic for difficult hair
This is the second one of these dryers I have purchased and I love it. I have strong medium lemgth, wavy/ curly hair but I like to blow dry it straight. This is perfect for that challenging task. I use the high heat and medium speed for overall styling then blow the cool air through. Some reviewers have said it is heavy, I guess it is a bit but I’m so used to it, it doesn’t bother me. I don’t have the kind of hair you can leave to dry naturally so a dryer is a major part of my daily routine. This is without question the best dryer I have used over the years. I can achieve the really smooth finish with it but do also use irons as well if I want it super straight! Also worth mentioning that despite using high heat it’s not damged my hair but I would recommend you use product or hair protection, just a small spritz.

Excellent replacement for a GHD disaster
After paying a similar amount for a new GHD hairdryer which subsequently blew up, cutting the power to my house, I decided it was time for a change! I chose parlux based on reviews and the fact that a lot of local hairdressers use the brand. I did find it quite difficult to differentiate between the model types but chose this one based on reviews and price. The packaging isn't going to win any awards so i'd be wary of buying this as a gift, although this is because the appliance is supposed to be used by professionals and not sold on shop shelves.Performance wise, the hairdryer is great. It dries my thick long hair very well both with and without the end nozzles. Even at the highest settings there isn't a familiar smell of burning that you get with some dryers. Fingers crossed this one lasts a little longer than the last - although i'm pretty confident that it will!

Superb Hairdryer, would not consider anything else
When my black Parlux 3200 compact started showing signs it wanted to "retire" it made me realise I'd had it for between 15-20 years! I remember my sister taking me to a well known hairdresser supply store in town in her Renault 5....anyway, after that kind of time together I simply got online and looked for my next Parlux 3200 compact, why would I consider using anything else?I found Purple Haze(I love the colour) here and elsewhere and to be honest elsewhere was a few pounds cheaper but I felt happier spending this kind of money through Amazon.I sure am glad I chose this seller as I ordered it late on monday evening, got email confirmation of despatch tuesday morning and received wednesday morning!! securely packaged etc WELL pleased!!As it says in the blurb about these hairdryers they are high powered but fairly lightweight. I have pain issues in my wrists and this is comfortable to hold.Yes, its not cheap but I do believe you get what you pay for... I'm looking forward to our next 15 years together!

Stopped working after a few months.
The product didn't really meet the expectations, especially with the price. Not powerful, and would leave the hair slightly frizzy and bulky. Would heat up quickly and smell like smoke, so we had to stop using it as soon as it did (note that we would make pauses and not use it for too long). Then, it stopped working around 2 to 3 months after. Not useful if used for a hair salon or for a "premium" finish in your hair.
