Fun on the farm the educational way
This magnetic set is an excellent alternative to technology. It encourages creative play and uses the hands and motor planning, in order to build the frame of a barn and place the magnet pieces on the double paneled sides. There are six wooden figures, 77 magnetic accessories, as well as some farm animals and a sturdy blue tractor. The tractors four sides also require appropriate panels. Another positive factor is that the magnets stick firmly to the panels of the barn and the farm figures. It is so frustrating to younger children when they droop or fall off. It is also a plus for younger children, when magnets are placed on a vertical or incline…..such as the higher panels of the barn. It places the wrist and fingers in the optimal position for preschool tool use. On the Farm is easy to pack up, making it easy to cart around to different venues. Some of the pieces are small, so you need to be aware of younger children playing in the room.Another excellent educational toy to grow on, which would be appropriate for a 4 year old with some supervision and a seven year old who could easily put the farm together and play independently. Melissa and Doug make a superior product and On the Farm was no exception.

Fun activity
My granddaughter is enjoying this play set. My only suggestion, after punching out all the magnetic pieces, it would have been nice if a small case to hold the pieces would have been included.

Great set!
I love these magnetivity sets! The farm is so cute, and we love all the animals it comes with. This set is a bit different than the other sets, because this focuses more on animals, and less on accessorizing the people. The farm truck is super cute, and I love that the tiles are double sided with different pictures, so you can really be creative!

Ingenious Creative play and very well-made!
Ingenious Creative play and very well-made! This is one of several sets that Melissa and Doug have come up with for Creative play and STEM. It has 102 pieces included and although they say ages 4 to 10 I would put it more along the lines of 4 to 8. There is a barn with several pieces that can be moved in several ways. There are six wooden figures including two people a cow lamb a horse a pig and there is a farm truck and the figures will fit in the vehicle. It’s extremely well-made and very creative but I will say of the three sets I have seen so far I am least impressed with this one. I felt they could’ve done more with the building. That being said I still think it’s an amazing set and a good value.

Better toys out there!
I'm giving this Melissa and Doug Magnetivity toy 3 out of 5 stars for the following reasons:1. The price ($44) - it's Melissa & Doug so I expected a hefty price tag, but not THIS EXTREME. The magnets are not anything remarkable. I wasn't that impressed with it overall. There are much better, similar toys out there at a more reasonable price.2. Small (I'm talking teeny tiny) little magnet pieces EVERYWHERE. There are way too many in my opinion. And other than the box it came in, which doesn't look like it's meant to be reused, there's nothing to store it in. I ended up using plastic baggies to keep these somewhat organized for my 5 year old but for the price you pay I think you should at least receive a reusable storage bag/container with this set.3. Magnet quality - with a toy like this I expect the quality to be far above the rest. Unfortunately, that's not what I got. About half of the magnets attract well to each other, while the other half just kind of flop over. Case in point: the magnet pieces meant to go on the sides of the green truck. They fit in place perfectly but once my daughter began playing with the truck they continuously fell off (despite her best efforts to be gentle.)The whole concept is pretty cute though. It comes with several different farm animals, food for the animals and many people magnets. There's no specific way to set it up so kids can really get creative and use their imagination. It's a nice alternative to watching television or being glued to electronics.

Another favorite
The beauty of toys made by Melissa and Doug, is when the younger kids grow out of them, they still look new and can be moved on to the next generation. We’ve had this set for about a year and they still look new. That’s with plenty of use. Can’t go wrong with Melissa and Doug kids toys.

Fun set with scope for the imagination
I really love these magnetivity sets. There is so much scope for the imagination with them. The best part is that they will all work with each other, so you can mix and match sets and create some really expansive worlds. The Farm set comes with two wood + magnet people, four wood + magnet animals, a plastic vehicle base, thirteen magnetic barn pieces, three magnetic vehicle pieces, and a sheet of magnetic pop outs used to decorate and be props for your house and people. There are also two plastic stands for holding magnetic pop out people. The best way that I can think of describing these sets is as a combination of legos and paper dolls. The magnets on the barn panels are sturdy, and can hold the weight of the dolls with no problem. Sometimes the panels shift if you jostle them hard enough, but for the most part they stay put.The truck panels tend to shift and fall down if you try to drive it around like a toy car while they are on, which is the reason for my taking a star off of this set (and all of the other vehicle sets that I have reviewed). The only part about these sets that annoys me is that some of the magnetic pop outs have extra space under the design and wind up covering more of the people than you want. Trimming with sharp scissors solves this, but it takes skill and patience to do it in a way that doesn't hurt the printed image or the way that it is mounted onto the magnet. The magnetic pop outs come out fairly easily, but an adult should probably punch them out, because some of the pieces are more intricate and can wrinkle or tear if not popped out slowly and carefully.
