GREAT BOOK!! I'm buying 6 more for gifts for my in-laws. This will help us all!!!

This book is an overview of the essentials of communicating. With 157 pages, I have found this book to be less helpful than other books in the "For Dummies" series. Topics are discussed on very general terms and are not developed in much detail. I found the chapters on "Active Listening" and "Speaking with Clarity" to be the most beneficial. Although this book does offer some valuable information, I would recommend looking for another book that offers more specific information on improving your communication skills, as there are many available. This book was an easy read for a difficult topic: effective communication. After reading this, I was better able to communicate with my staff, my spouse, and even my child. What to say, how to say it, and use of appropriate body language is essential to being an effective and appropriate communicator.
