I had idling problems after cleaning my original carb and had no air mixture adjustment screw. Order this one based on reviews and it lived up to the expectations. Great product. 5 minute install and I can idle and troll with no issues. Has an air mixture screw if I need it in the future. Love it!Edit: BUYER BEWAREWhile this products works on a 2018 Mercury 6hp outboard, it is NOT jetted for the 6hp. My original carb has 20 holes in the jet (4 rows of 5 holes) while this carb only came with 12 holes in the main jet (2 rows of 4 and 2 rows of 2 holes).This will make your motor run and idle, but you will lose power and performance if you have a 6hp. I could only 8mph versus 11mph with multiple people in the boat. My motor bogged down quite a bit which prompted me to research.

Seemed that the float was sticking. Flooded engine 5 min from the dock.

I don’t typically write reviews but this one deserves my time. I had cleaned the carb on my 2007 Mercury 6HP that included adjusting the float and needle seat. It ran great for a while (months) until died and put my sailboat in danger of getting smashed against some rocks. I cleaned it out again and did evything I could , but it was still running rough… needed a carb rebuild . The kit alone to renew the original carb would cost more than this new one. I decided to order this item on Amazon . It was delivered in 24hrs. I removed it from the box installed in last than 10 minutes and the engine started on the second pull and never quit . It is purring like a cat. Just awesome ! It fists perfectly and seems well built. I figured that the original was 15 years old … now a new heart is pumping new life into the outboard and I am happy!

I bought similar carburator for $39 but had to return it because idle adjustment wouldn't go low enough. This one, works great! Would be nice if they included gaskets though. I would have given it a 5 star.

The intake manifold side of the carb didn't exactly match my 6hp fouled carb. South Marine worked with me to let me install it and try it out without the risk of not accepting my return were it not to fix my problem. One cannot ask for better service than that, period! Tested today and it ran wonderfully! Best it has ever run! It slots in with a Phillips screwdriver. Can't be any simpler to install. I'm going to buy another for a backup while on the water, should there ever be a need.

I bought a used 6hp merc that wouldn't run right if my life depended on it I got it close but still had issues. Bought this carb and the motor starts and runs as it should every time. Excellent buy

I bought this to replace on my Mercury 4HP. The new unit not only deliver more power, it also idles at the low end much better. Now I can troll with minimum speed. Great product. Highly recommend.
