Fortin - PASSLOCK-SL2-V2 - GM Passlock and VATS Transponder Key Bypass Module

I installed a viper 5704v kit onto a 2004 cavalier. I disabled VATS with HPTuners, so the car would remote start, but the security light would stay on until you turned it off then back on. After not being able to get the software for my older xpresskit bypass to work, I could not reprogram it to make sure it would work with my vehicle anymore. Documentation is also hard to come by unless you're a registered installer which for an at-home DIYer, is not something I'm interested in spending money on.The Fortin kit did the trick. The only programming done is a button press after initial install to program the key code and that's it. No software required. Very convenient!If you're an installer, the Fortin install is very straightforward and integrates nicely with a security/ remote start system. Just follow the installation instructions available on their website, find your make model and year in the document, and wire it accordingly.My passlock system was working CORRECTLY when I installed this component. If your passlock system is malfunctioning, I do not believe this kit will fix your problem since it needs to record the keycode before it can replicate it.

Installed on 2007 GMC Colorado. The unit didnt come with installation instructions just a piece of paper directing you to a third party website where you had to register and use a product key that this unit didn't come with. It was a pain in the butt and took some time to hunt down the instructions hence the four stars. Has been working flawlessly for 2months.

I stalled myself it was very easy, with not problems at all if you follow the instructions, I’m happy with this product and I’ll recommend this, good value also….

Fortin is the leading company for bypass modules for remote starts.. so easy to use and program.

I bought this for my Grandfathers 2010 Colorado which was not starting because it was locked out of the PASSLOCK system. Since it was locked out this device did not work to resolve my issue; However, the wiring diagrams (these aren't instructions mind you, you will need your vehicles wiring diagrams or YouTube) for the different makes and models made it easy to understand.Luckily in my case, I only have to reconnect the one wire to put the original wiring back in service.

This is not a grade school install for all the backyard mechanics with that being said I'm using it in conjunction with an autostart/alarm setup do not recommend DIY unless your in or used to be in that line of work because I asked other mechanics just for fun and top certified ones were clueless, lol.

Took 10 extra minutes to install, and program, with my 4105l remote start... 2002 Chevy Silverado.I love being able to start the old truck when I get up and it is warm by the time I leave for work.
