Inspiring, Down-to-earth, Guidance
The book consists of ten chapters, or "steps", to improve your photography. Simon's chapter four, "The Lonely Adventurer," talks about the need "...to be laser focused and go it alone." There's so much good advice in this book one needs to read it a second time more slowly. A large part of Simon's advice consists of things we already know; maybe some are so logical we think "Sure, why aren't I already doing that?" A few are actually new ideas that deserve application. I wish I had read his book twenty years ago (though it didn't exist then, and the first edition--2012--probably didn't take digital technology into account as much as his second edition does, though his recommendations were probably just as valid in the film era as now, only more costly and slower to achieve back then when we had to buy film and wait to develop it to see the results). In the future it will be Simon I turn to when I feel a need for re-direction and guidance. This is an inspiring book, full of down-to-earth advice and with many images to illustrate his points.

Version 2 of a great book just got better
This edition is packed with even more information, and it's hardback! Awesome quality from cover to cover, awesome content from cover to cover. Totally worth the wait to have this in my hands.

Fabulous Revised Edition!
I thought the first edition was wonderful; a huge help; and fun to read. It never dawned on me that a new edition could be an improvement. But, somehow, Steve managed to do it. I highly recommend purchasing this new edition if you have the first one. And if you don't have the original version, you are in for a real treat!

Motivational book for photography
I don't think of this book as a photography book but more a book about how to become good at whatever you do - chapters about planning your work, practice practice practice, review your work and evaluate your strengths and weaknesses, setting goals and planning how to meet them.

DO NOT BUY THE KINDLE EDITION
This review is only about the fact the the Kindle edition is illegible. The text is tiny and cannot be read. This is not an e-book but some form of file in which the font size cannot be changed. The two page spreads are also useless as the text only supports single-column view. This is a shame as the book itself is really great.DO NOT BUY THE KINDLE EDITION
