16 Piece Set of Bosch OEM Spark Plug # 0242230500 / FR8DPP33+ - Mercedes Benz OE #'s 0041591903 / 0041591926

These plugs are the updated version of the plugs specified in the owner's manual for my 2001 MB E430. They are about half the price of the plugs available at the MB dealer. The original plugs in my car were also labeled Bosch, whereas replacement plugs at the MB dealer are labeled MB. Go figure. The plugs arrived promptly in new condition. I purchased the MB Spark Plug Wire Remover tool for V6 and V8 engines to avoid damaging the spark plug wires when removing them to access the plugs. I also purchased the recommended GearWrench 80546 5/8 in. swivel spark plug socket, which helped me reach the further plugs. You'll also need a six-point T30 driver to remove the coil packs. If you don't plan on replacing the spark plug wires, don't remove the existing wires from the coil packs, because they can come apart if you do, as happened to me. As I also replaced the spark plug wires, it wasn't an issue for me. Although the old plugs had 94k miles and 12 years on them, they came out easily, and didn't look bad at all. The new plugs fit like the originals. They come pre-gapped, and there is no need for anti-seize. I torqued the plugs to the torque labeled on the spark plug box. The car is running fine with the new plugs.

Installed 16 of these on a 2002 CLK 430 which had the original plugs in at 151K. See the photo included to see what the plugs looked like compared to new ones. I didn’t intend to run them that long but I was dreading taking the car to a shop so I finally decided to DIY.The Bosch double plat are great plugs and OME. A few tips, get the plug socket and the spark plug boot puller and remove to coil packs for more access room.I did NOT change coil packs or wires. I did ohm test the coil packs and they consistently test between 1.3-1.7 ohms.I’m no expert but I was looking for any that stood out and none did.It was successful car runs great, I may go back and do the wires later, but I didn’t want to spend another $240 right now.Good luck you can DIY.

Changed all 16 plugs in my E430. These are what was in the engine when I removed them. Go OEM, it's what the car was designed to use.

Almost identical to the old plugs in my 2000 clk 430. Vehicle operated great after replacement, found the lost power! I had to be careful on the freeway in the test drive, vehicle after replacing the spark plugs, wires, and coils accelerate so fast and so quietly without noticing, I was at 75 mph!
