Dark Chocolate Sponge Candy

Real Buffalo, NY sponge candy; can be hard to find anywhere else! Shipped fast and seemed very fresh. Makes a great gift; it's fun to turn people on to sponge candy when they don't know what it is.

I grew up eating sponge candy and this one beats all. The dark chocolate is so delicious and it is the best ever. And the packaging was perfect. Thank you for this fantastic candy.

If you're from the Buffalo area you know Sponge Candy. That being said, it is not always soft under the chocolate coating. This candy is great and I can't recommend it highly enough as both the chocolate and the soft interior is as good as it gets. While it's not inexpensive it would make a great gift. Living in Florida I was concerned about the heat but delivery was quick and arrived in great condition.

Every year I receive chocolate sponge candy as a gift from my son as it is my favorite candy so I'm a bit of a sponge candy connoisseur. This sponge candy maker's chocolate coating was thicker than other's I've had, and the sponge candy on the interior was a lighter texture and didn't have quite the crunch that I've had with other makers, so I rated it 4 stars. Others might prefer the lighter texture and thicker chocolate, and would rate it perfect. Nevertheless, it was still very tasty and delicious all enjoyed!

have never tried sponge candy before. I grew up in the North, so it has been 40 years since I have been back. I wasn't sure what to expect when I got it, but after seeing the videos of how it's made, it looked so delicious. And oh my God it's even better than I imagined. It's not overly sweet, with a delightful crunch, and the dark chocolate is absolutely delicious. I will definitely be purchasing again!

In a moment of weakness (and acute dark chocolate-withdrawal!), I thought, what the heck, I'll give this product a try. Friends, that was a moment of divine inspiration! The package took only two days to arrive, thank heavens, as I was in dire need of a chocolate fix. The candy was in perfect condition. In the middle of summer! Oh, it smelled so good but the taste? It was ambrosial! The dark chocolate is of excellent quality, in my opinion, but it was that spongy stuff which sets this confection apart. It liquifies in your mouth, leaving just a slight residue of nougat-y goodness. I am a fan for life!!!!!!!!!

Because high quality customer service is lacking these days -- hence why so many of us shop on Amazon with all of their guarantees and fast response times -- I really appreciate the care that Sponge Candy Co took to make sure I had a choice in how my request was satisfied. The seller was kind and reached out to make things right. There is a possibility of the shipment process altering the quality and flavor of the product. Sponge Candy Co did voluntarily refund me (no strong-arming necessary from Amazon unlike some other sellers I have seen on here) and offered a free replacement. Due to the possibility of damage occurring to the product gain, I declined the free replacement. Ultimately, this is changing my rating. Maybe the other reviewers were correct and I truly did just get a bad batch. ------------- ORIGINAL: I'm going to start off by saying that if you like "cheap chocolate" with all of its chemical after-bite, then, sure, you might like this. This product is an old, dusty, gas station shelf type of candy, yet it comes with a premium price tag. Just to provide an idea of palette preference, so you can compare your taste to mine -- if our preferences don't line up, you can disregard this review. If our tastes match, please read on. I prefer dark chocolate over milk, white, and imitation ("chocolate flavored"). I like a creamy kind of dark with a heavy mouth feel, much like the solid weight of a red wine, earthy, interesting. I like it sweet, but on the milder side and definitely not coma-inducing. I LOVE honeycomb and sponge candies. I have had several really nice ones at chocolate festivals and other events. From the reviews, I was expecting something special, especially at $25 per pound -- this is event-cost for hand made chocolate. Alas, I was deceived. Today, I received my order and I was so disappointed that I asked to return it. However, the seller doesn't offer returns, so I had to reach out to Amazon support. I am awaiting that decision. This candy tastes old and has no fresh crunch or honeycomb-like texture. The chocolate tastes like a thick cleaning product. I can't believe this is what was delivered to me. Buyer beware!

This is my friend's favorite candy. I buy it every year for her birthday and Christmas. She never gets tired of it.
