Keep looking if you want a book on personal change
If you are considering this book because you want to make changes in your life read, Immunity to Change, by Lehay and Kegan, instead. Use the tools in their book, if you really want a system for improving negative thinking. Unlike this book it provides a system to get to the why you have negative thinking in the first place which allows for changes from that point. Negative thinking comes about as a protective device so affirmations alone won't change a system that while hindering you was set in place to help you. The author writes about the power of the subconscious and then states that repeating an affirmation 20 times for weeks will make that power accessible. I positivly doubt it. If I have an allergic reaction to shellfish no amount of affirming that I don't will change it. Shots or other ways of addressing the hyped up immunity might, but not affirmations. His encouragement to add "yet" to sentences when describing why something didn't work is probably the best part of the book. It keeps you open to trying something else. I encouage you to try something else instead of this book. Disclosure: I received this book without cost in exchange for my honest review.

Meh
This 38-page booklet is sold for $0.00 on kindle and $49.99 in paperback. I'm giving it 3-stars for the following reasons:First, immediately knocking down stars for touting a price for $49.99 despite being far, far away from that in value. There is nothing you could tell me in under 50 pages that would be worth $50. Sorry. It's a very short book and, if you're a little tech savvy, you can find the same information online for free. I find it really hard to trust such an outrageous price tag.Second: this is a great booklet for a beginner, i.e. someone who has no clue where to start but has been told their whole life that they have a "bad attitude" or if they "just put [their] mind to it!" they'll do great. I would give this book a pass for pretty much anyone else. For example, one tip is to "unlock your subconscious", and that this can be done by repeating a particular phrase every time. The truth is, a mindset gets changed through repetition, but that's not explained very well in that particular chapter. It's not just about "unlocking your subconscious", it's also about doing this in the correct, positive way with every thought that crosses your mind.Third: I DID find this booklet useful, so I gave it some stars. I have mild depression, moderate anxiety, and mild BPD. The combination of the three creates a really fresh environment for negative thought processes, and having a short list on what I should be doing has been serving as a good reminder for me. This booklet may help you when caring for a friend or a loved one that has similar issues like I do - I know that when I showed my SO some of these tricks, he started integrating them into our daily lives and I've noticed an improvement in my mental health.I think the biggest thing missing here is probably depth of information (everything feels very surface level - I would've appreciated references to scientific studies and WHY the brain responds to certain kind of stimuli over others), as well as worksheets and "practice problems" (it might be difficult to do real practice problems here by walking through it theoretically, but there's surely a way to frame it that would be useful to people). If you're on the fence about buying this book, I would just caution you that it's going to be very short and very lacking when it comes to the read. But, I will give credit where credit is due, and in my book this was worth three stars because of the way it's been helping me. I am required to disclose that I received this book at a discount in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This is the book you want if your mind seems to be what is holding you back, buy this.
A few months ago I read a book about not giving an F. At the time, I thought the book revolutionary and insightful and thought it would help me, but it didn't really embue the ideal perspective I needed, that book only comforted me.THIS book, well, in a word, it's GREAT. It's a short book and gets right to the point and gives real, tangible instructions on how to handle the ways your mind holds you back. I won't hurt the writer by saying how it works, but wow, it's things I sort of knew but were buried in my mind and honestly, now I know that I can do many things I "thought" I couldn't, because I understand a very primal part of how our brain works against us. It's no big major mystery, but of all the cults and religions and fast fixes out there, which are all bull, this book will help you quickly uncover the few things that dog you from achieving a better self.My compliments to Smith, After I achieve my goals, I'm going to write a thank you to him. This is good, healthy, scientific, not cult, non BS teaching. Once you read it you will say "yes, this is what I do and CAN do about it!"Buy this book. I've read about 20 books in the last 4 months and this book is my top book. Thank you, Benjamin Smith.

Simple and Objective
Why 5 stars for a 39 page book....simply because it has helped and that's what I needed. The advice and techniques offered here are straight forward and simple to apply. No waffle or information that requires a degree in psycho analysis to understand. I will certainly be employing the techniques described and feel confident (that's not a term I often use lately) that they will help. If you have felt the need to read this book, I offer you best wishes for your future endeavours.

Many typing/ other errors
Too many typing errors, repeated words, other errors. Unfortunately, I found myself mentally correcting a lot of the text in my head whilst reading which distracted mea lot from the content of this book.It is a shame that the author did not get someone to proof read the text before publishing. Or maybe the author rushed to get the book published before a set deadline? Basically, I'm glad it was a free book.If it wasn't for the 'typos', I think I would have found the content beneficial.

Yes i believe positive thinking can set you free, your book needs to have more
The book isn't bad I would like more indepht detailing, these techniques are all good ,we need more from you very basic techniques to truly change the mindset it will take more than this it also depends on the level of mind chatter in each individual which needs to be addressed, silenced or controlled first, we are bombarded with so many stressful things each day.Benjamin I think these need addressing as well we need more insight to truly change to protect ourselves from all the negativety all around us every day, media news people and the killer Their thoughts now that would be a book

Covers the basics quickly
Covers under about affirmations and self awareness ( mindfulness) I found it quite negative in a way, reading about all the bad stuff you may feel.A interesting bit is where the author suggest you say “I can’t do that YET.” That to me becomes a neutral statement as it’s contains a negative and a positive. I would reframe. “I will be able to in the future.”’It’s a quick read covering a lot.

Quick and easy injection of positivity
Sometimes my mind can wander and before I know it on in the depths of negativity. This is a great quick fix to get you back on track and I have reviewed harnessed the key skills and taken on board lots of advice so I can see the world in a different light. I have seen the power of positive thinking and manifestation first hand thanks to the secret and this is a great little booster. Let's see what happens now I'm back in the game. Thanks for the fix.
