IKEA365+ Ihärdig Spice Mill, Black

Since I can't afford the $200+ Mann brand of pepper grinder, I bought this after my OXO didn't perform as well as I hoped. I initially tried this at a family's kitchen and was surprised at its performance - solid grinding and high volume even of larger peppercorns. The closest IKEA is 3 hrs away so glad I was able to buy this from Amazon.

I’ve had this shaker for 4 to 5 years. I dropped and broke it so I was very happy to find the exact shaker on Amazon. Two thumbs up!

nice way to get just one

Easy to use, easy to clean

I've gone through several of these pepper grinders. They work well, they're easy to adjust for different coarse/fine grinds, and they're easy to refill. But they break -- the ceramic grinding mechanism strips its gears or loses teeth or something, but it just stops working. I reckon I've gotten between 1 and 2 years of use out of each grinder before it failed. These grinders are so cheap that I wonder if I should just accept the grinder replacement cost as part of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). In any case, it's a well-designed pepper grinder, but it's not very durable. The manufacturer could do better.

This grinder does everything you need. We first purchased one for grounding red pepper for pizza and Chinese food. It worked so well that we replaced our more expensive, fancy salt and pepper grinders and purchased additional ones for grinding Italian herbs and other spices.The best advantage of this grinder is that the grinder is on the top. Regular grinders make such a mess on the table and in the cabinet. These grinders keep everything clean.

We bought two of this spice mill before from Ikea in Hong Kong, one we gifted to my uncle because he admired it so much. Until now, another one we have used for over ten years. It still works very well. We bought some other more stylish spice mills before but we didn't like them as much as this one.Its smaller size makes the grip easier and takes less space; Its grinder is still strong and durable after ten years' daily use. We love it!

I really wanted to like these, but the insides are plastic and don't hold up. Each lasted about a year grinding salt and pepper. They spew spices all about, making a mess of the dinner table. In their favor, they are the only manual grinders I was able to operate with my weak hands. I ended up buying automatic rechargeables for about the same price.
