Nothing to fear but fear itself
I never cease to be amazed at the power fear has to overwhelm rational thought. In this first book in Me Reasor's new series, both Hawk and Zoe are emotionally controlled by fears engendered by past experiences. Hawk has never due dealt with the grief of the death of his mother nor the feeling that his military service caused her to be alone when she died. His fears of failing anyone he might love in the future stand as a formidable barrier to his becoming seriously involved. Zone, on the other hand, deals daily with the disfiguring results of childhood injuries that not only continue to hamper ease of normal movement for her but have been the source of deep humiliation in the past from a would be lover. Brought into close proximity to Hawk due to life threatening injuries to her brother, Zoe must find a way to deal with her fear, process the strong attraction that simmers between her and Hawk, and also put her inner strength to the test as she faces the possibilities as well as the liabilities of being involved with a Navy SEAL. Hawk, too, like so many in his particular branch of the Navy, feels compelled to keep his bachelor status intact, feeling that he can't ask anyone to endure the long deployments or silences or worrying over his safety. He effectively managed to insulate himself emotionally and it served him well until Zoe came along. This novel is not a simple read in that it speaks openly of the inner stresses a SEAL team must face when a mission goes awry. It is a story that embraces the pain of loving during long separation or when keeping watch over a loved one whose life hangs in the balance. Yet throughout runs the power of love in friendships, the joy of loving between spouses, the connections of love in families and the strength of love to empower sustain individuals during the most trying circumstances. Finally, it is a novel that is so well written and a story that is beautifully told, introducing readers not only to the main characters in this particular novel but also to characters who will be featured in subsequent novels in this series. All in all, it is a terrific book that may have been around for a while already but one that will entertain and be well worth the time and effort to enjoy.

Liked it a lot!
Lieutenant Adam Yazzie is the commanding officer of a SEAL unit and hasn't ever lost a member of his team during a mission. However, this personal record has been endangered during the last operation, when one of his team mates was severely wounded and left to die. He tried to rescue his friend and is also injured during this endeavor. Back home he tries to support his team mate who is in a coma and he meets the ensign's younger sister who is determined to save her brother. Feelings start to develop between Lieutenant Yazzie and Zoe Weaver, however, both of them have to struggle with serious emotional and physical problems. Will their love prevail? Finally an intelligent military romance. What do I mean? There are very little battle and war scenes. The main part of the book is devoted to the developing romance between the two main characters, who both face their own daemons: Adam is devoted to his special job and knows very well that this is a tremendous restraint to a possible relationship. On the other hand, Zoe is physically handicapped and tries very hard to overcome her own burden. The author has managed in a very persuasive and emotional way to depict the struggles and fears of these two people, which resulted in a very gripping love story. However one or two details of the plot remain unexplained, which left me just a little bit unsatisfied. All in all a very entertaining book of the genre with a very gripping love story.

Is there a cover-up in this horrible tragedy? What is going on with Marjorie & ...
Lieutenant Adam โHawkโ Yazzie (Navaho, CO), Lieutenant Carney, Ensign Zack โDocโ OโConnor (corpsman), Ensign Derrick โStrong Manโ Armstrong, Harold โFlashโ (Adamโs Executive Officer, radio man), Oliver โGreenbackโ Shaker (rear security) were on patrol.Shots were being exchanged from everywhere.Ensign โCutterโ the other US Navy SEAL had been KIA.Lieutenant Yazzie had his body in tow. BOOM!Later Lieutenant Commander Jackson was discussing the incident with Lieutenant Yazzie.Naval Medical Center (Balboa). Angela (nurse), & Dr. Connelly was checking Ensign Brett Weaverโs (Uncle) vital & reading his chart. Will he fully recover? Is there a cover-up in this horrible tragedy? What is going on with Marjorie & Derrick?I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written military romance book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great military romance movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.Thank you for the free Author; ebookstage; Amazon Digital Services LLC; bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

Outstanding, wonderful, and awesome novel of romance and suspense.
Beautiful, wonderful and awesome. Romance, Navy SEALs, and suspense! The perfect combination. I first heard about the book at the release party for Malice, Mischief & Men. Teresa Reasor's description of the book and her excitement over the series made them sound so irresistible that I bought the next two before I even read Breaking Free, and boy am I glad I did. The story could stand alone if I could stand it, but I have to see want happens next; these people have come to matter to me.There are enough good, detailed descriptions here that I will not go into a lot of detail. On their most recent assignment, Cutter, a member of Hawk's Seal team, was hadn't left building that was about to be blasted. Although Hawk managed to get him out before the place blew, they were both injured by the blast and Cutter's head injury put him in a coma. Hawk feels a strong responsibility that a man was injured under his watch, and he invites Cutter's mother and sister to stay at his house while they are in town. He knows he can work around having people living in his home, but he is not so sure how it will be living with a woman who attracts him greatly, a woman he considers off limits. While Hawk works on his own recovery, he has to discover what really happened in Iraq. It wasn't the enemy that had attacked and disabled Cutter, so it had to have been a member of the team. If he doesn't figure out who is responsible, not only will Cutter still be in danger, but all of their careers could be in jeopardy. Of course, for Hawk, it is personal too. They are his men, they are a family, and Cutter's amazing sister needs to know. he can't imagine how one of his men could have done that to another.

So much potential, but in the end, meh
I won't repeat the story line since it has been reported accurately in other reviews. Solid premise, loved the hero Adam aka Hawk aka Yazzie. Adam is a tall, good looking, commanding SEAL who opens his home to Zoe and her Mom, Clara, while they keep a vigil over their injured brother/son, Brett. There is nothing to not like about Adam. All around good guy who is a great teammate as well as being honest, respectful, honorable and fun (in and out of bed.) I also love the way he supported and cared for Zoe and her family.I just tolerated the heroine, Zoe, which makes me sad because just when I started to buy into her as a strong, courageous, independent female who survived...no, triumphed...after a childhood injury, she turned into a whiner. One example: the man she is falling in love with, the man who has given his heart and soul to his country and her citizens--that's the man you're going to ask why he puts the Navy before you? When you've known him for all of 6-weeks and he has served for years? Seriously? More annoying was Zoe's frequent tendency to ask Adam/Hawk questions that she knew full well he could not answer due to the need for secrecy in his job. And then she wanted to stomp her feet when he didn't answer. Again, seriously? Zoe clearly loves Adam but can't respect him enough to not put him in a position of having to compromise his code of honor? Okay, I get that all the Zoe fans out there will think she was entitled to ask since the storyline was woven around searching for the truth about a life-threatening incident that happened to her brother, Brett, a SEAL under Adam's command. But still...I enjoyed the other characters, although sometimes it's hard to keep the SEALs nicknames straight. My problem, not the author's. Zoe's family was very nice and the author fleshed out all the supporting characters well. There is one major loose end and while I'd like to know how it was resolved, I probably won't buy other books in this series to find out how it was ultimately resolved, unless of course, it's free. I can slog through it then.So while I finished the book and didn't hate it...and to be fair there were far (far) more good parts than annoying ones...I would have been much happier if Zoe stayed the course of being a strong heroine rather than a whiny one. She had so much potential. I will say the last chapter made me smile. That's a plus.

Good story with interesting characters
I am just starting to read books by Teresa Reasor & I really like them. This is the first book in the Seal Team Heartbreakers. The story is about all of the Seal Team & their leader Hawk. One of the team is injured and as they try to find out what happened to him and why the author begins to introduce us to all the team members.Of course, there is a romance for Hawk that is interesting and sweet. The author did a great job keeping the story interesting and kept me guessing. I would recommend this series if you like special operations stories.

Military intrigue... suspense... romance... "Breaking Free" by Teresa J. Reasor has it all!Nothing like a group of Navy SEALS to give you your Alpha-Male-fix, and Adam "Hawk" Yazzie certainly doesn't disappoint. Reasor keeps you on your toes, constantly guessing, until a climactic breaking point when Zoe's life is at risk and Hawk must use all his skills as a SEAL to keep her alive.I highly recommend this book! Breaking Free (Military Romantic Suspense)
The good feeling call ( Hooyah ) is the navy Seal yell and has very interesting beginnings. Army calls (Hoo au), Marines (Hoorah). Some believe these calls could have come from prominent Native Americans, other think the yell comes from The World War in which Turkish or Russian soldiers would call it out. That being said this is a really good story that highlights some of the issues felt by spouses, girlfriends and family members, when their soldiers leave on deployment and can not be contacted. There really is abuse committed by many military soldiers and many times the spouse says nothing nor do they leave their abusive spouse. The soldiers in foreign countries are missing their family as much as they are missed. Think of the stories we hear on the news of soldiers returning to find their spouses having delivered a new baby they were not there for. So as you read this story know that this writer did some good research and is giving readers a good overview of what it is like to live this challenging life.

Hooyah!
A romance, mystery and secrets. Hawk and Zoe's romance is told with realistic events. The way their romance unfolds is totally believable. The secret of what happened to her brother while on duty lent mystery to the story line. A really good story that holds your interest to the very end.

Very different to what I usually read, but a good story, well worth the read. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Grandiose Spannung, toller Herzschmerz
