Pretty good. I got an agent using a moologue from this
It's got a pretty diverse number of monologues for different types. I wish there was a little more "direction" given with each monogloue, but I supposed some wouldn't want to be restricted too much. The comedic monologues are ok, about on par with what you find in most books. So it's not laugh out loud hilarious no matter how you play it, but that can be good too, you don't want the writer overshadowing you too much if you're using this for an audition. So for now, it got me an agent and that's good. I asking a friend to write a more tailored monologue for me as this didn't have anything just "perfect" for me.

Actually quite happy
I'm pretty picky with my monologues, and finding a comedic monologue is nearly impossible for me. The only thing that keeps me from rating this book 5 stars is that there aren't as many family-friendly monologues as I was hoping. I have an audition that requires something family-friendly, and though there are a couple things in here I might be able to use, I don't have many options to choose from. But this book is definitely worth buying. There are so many great monologues, and for the majority of your auditions, nearly all of them are appropriate...and funny!

Useful resource for any actor
I have several monologue books but this is one of my favorites. For each monologue, the book lists the name of the piece, the author, genre (contemporary or classic), age range of the character, and background information on the character and plot. Most of the auditions I attend call for a one or two minute monologue so this book really comes in handy. It contains a lot of monologues from plays I haven't come across so I know the auditioners haven't heard the same piece over and over. I like the fact that it's separated by male & female monologues, as well as comic and seriocomic monologues. I wish the table of context further grouped the monologues by age, but other than that, I have no complaints.

Teachers beware
I purchased this for my drama club auditions, and found that many of the monologues are inappropriate for students. I will have to keep this one off my classroom library shelf, and only copy certain monologues that are okay for teens. Overall, however, the majority are great for my teen thespians as an introduction to working with comedic monologues.

Chuckles Abound!
I didn't even have to look past the first few pages to find my perfect monologue, but it's well worth reading through to find some extra chuckles. It's definitely one of the best monologue books I've read, comedic or otherwise.

Short; sweet?; not so sweet?; Funny? YES!!
I have not read the entire book as yet but I rated it four stars because It is just the book I wanted and the title says it all. I believe I got what I paid for and in a timely manner!

Worth using as a guide book.
It provides links in the back where you can research the plays, or the pieces in the book. This is a great tool for actors and teachers

Great Book
If you're a performer looking for monologue material, you need this on a shelf in your library. It will serve you well as a part of your audition arsenal.

Not great for drama school auditions
A lot of drama schools (well, all the ones I'm applying for) want your monologue to come from a published play. Of all the monologues I found and liked in this book only 7 of them are actually published and from full plays. Lots of them seem to only exist as monologues even though the book labels them as 'plays' and a few even come from essays or novels (though they are labeled as such). The mens monologues are more likely to come from actual plays, the female ones all seem to be from people who just write monologues and put them on the internet.Overall a complete waste of money for me. Not happy.
