DXS12 Powered Subwoofer

I bought a pair of these for my karaoke shows. I use the Yamaha DXR 12's for the tops and the DXS subs on the bottom. The sound is incredible, It has so much bass I have to turn it back to -2 .... Just used them at a dance with approx 500 people and had plenty of power, crisp,clear and plenty of power and resolved my clipping problem that I was experiencing without the subs.. 1 sub is plenty, but I bought 2 to be sure!

It works great with my Stagepas 400i. It really enhances the sound, and I thought the sound was good before I got it. Very easy to set up. You will need to buy the cable from the DXS12 to the mixer.

Good speaker works well -

A bit Heavy for a 12 inch Woofer but has plenty of CLEAN punch.

I have owned dozens of powered speakers over the years. At one point, I probably had close to 40 QSC122's, with Eon's before that, and K12's after that, with a handful of EV's a few others mixed in. I sold the production company a few years ago, and kept a few things laying around that I would use for small parties for friends or other little events that I would get roped into providing a couple speakers and microphones for. I decided to sell the old speakers that I had left over and to buy new ones. I had kept the oldest and most beat up speakers I had at the time (an old pair of 122's that had been toured hard for corporate events and were pretty beat up), so it was time for an upgrade. I called my old dealer for pro audio gear and told him that I have not been in the game awhile, and I needed a new pair of speakers for little events of <100 people. He told me to pick up a pair of these. I did not buy them on Amazon, because I am still eligible for deer pricing with Yamaha, so I got a pair of DXR12's. I just gave them a good workout yesterday at a neighborhood pool party. I am impressed. A very good sounding speaker with some nice features. As the party dragged on into the late hours, the music got louder with a lot more low end. I didn't bring the sub, but the 12" kept up with EDM and sounded pretty good. I do think that these are better than the older 122's for sure, and are on par with, or slightly better than the K12's as far as overall sound quality and features for a powered speaker. They are heavier, so if you are going to put them on a stand, do NOT buy a cheap stand. Go with something at least on par with a TS-80 with the metal clutch. If not, the stand is likely to be damaged under the weight. As far as bags go, the DXR12 fits perfectly in the Gator Tote 12 speaker bag. It is padded and has a side pocket for the IEC and a couple cables.

AMAZING BASS FOR SIZE

Whill 600 RMS watts seems like a lot, The frequency tuning seems to be geared towards indoor use. Outdoors the bass seems to drop off quickly as to back away from the speaker. Also the limiter seems to trip at anything about half volume which is disappointing. This seems to be a limit of their older amp technology, the newer version of this sub now have the newer passive amplifiers with 1020 watts, I would like to see how those would perform.... I image the SPL will definitely improve.
