Great for keeping in the first aid kit
After reading about tincture of Benzoin I wanted to find some that would fit in our first aid kits. I have used it a few times and it really does help bandaids stay in place. It can be messy to use if you don't squirt it onto a q-tip, but it does work well. You have to place it on the skin where you will place a bandage or tape, allow it to dry until it is tacky, and they put the bandage or tape on. I am impressed and wonder how I ever made out without it. I have used it in situations where I was getting my foot or my hands wet (swimming, kayaking, etc.), and the bandages stayed in place much longer than would be typical without the Benzoin. In fact, I had to wait for one bandaid to come off for several days, which is not typical. Very pleased to have this in my first aid kit!

keeps bandages in place
After dealing with a supplier on Amazon that was repeatedly incapable of delivering the correct item, this one arrived on time and in good condition. This product is extremely useful for maintaining dressings on chronic wounds and for securing ostomy pouches. It also reduces maceration from moist areas. i also use it for myself to keep bandages in place when I will be getting wet - sweating, bathing, chores, etc. This is a useful adjunct to have on hand.

Creates a Helpful "Fake" Layer of Skin
This is a pretty neat little product, it effectively creates a layer of pseudo-skin that sits on top of your skin and will help to prevent chafing and other irritation. I bought it upon a recommendation from a runner's site where the owner said that applying tincture of Benzoin to the back of your feet and on top of your toes will help to prevent blisters caused by running in shoes for a long period of time. And I have to say that it really does work, much better than other anti-blister balms, the only downside being that it is so messy and you have to be careful with your application (I used a cotton swab) otherwise you will get it all over your hands or accidentally waste a lot of it. I probably won't be buying this again because anti-blister balms are just much easier to use than this while still pretty effective, but that doesn't mean that this is a bad thing to buy or use. I'd only use it for that reason if I was going to participate in a very long track run. I know that my use for this product might have been a pretty odd one, but hopefully that was a new piece of information for some!

Good product
I purchased this to help adhere athletic tape to my feet to prevent blisters. Ordinarily, the tape detaches from my foot due to perspiration. The benzoin does help keep the tape adhered longer, but not as well as I expected.

Used to decrease discomfort from a painful corn
Benzoin tincture of benzoin is typically used as a treatment for damaged skin. It is often applied before applying tape or other adhesive bandages, especially if you have to keep taping and re-taping the same area. I use it slightly differently. I have a friend who is an avid skier and applies Benzoid Tincture to avoid blisters from skiing boots. When I told him about a corn I have on top of one of my toes which is irritated by otherwise very comfortable shoes, he suggested I start using a bit of Benzoid Tuncture on top of my toe. Since Benzoid tincture is often used as an antiseptic (due it the benzoin as well as its alcohol solvent) I felt safe using it on a corn that was irritated. I found that the compound really helps. Now my corn feels less irritated and less painful.I am attaching a photo that shows an open container of the benzoin tincture (photo can be located by following 'customer photos' link under the main photo). The content is a dark brown thick liquid that hardens a bit as it dries. A small hole in the cap allows you to dispense a small amounts. The liquid does stain if you spill it as I found out the first time I applied it to my toe. Now I put something under my foot as I apply the compound.Overall, using it on my toe every day made me more comfortable and I recommend it.Ali Julia review

Just so you know....
I recently ordered this product and the expiration date is September 2018. That gives me only 7 months to use this. When I contacted the company they responded that: "As long as the product expiration is 6 months after the day of purchased we have fulfilled the order accordingly". Just posting to be sure you are aware of this policy.

Leaves stains
This product was recommended following my surgery as an adhesive liquid to secure dressings between dressing changes. However, it leaves noticable stains, not only on the wond dressings, but on clothing as well. Would not recommend.

Great value on a hard to find product. Can't be without in a First Aid kit or Wound Care
Truly a great price on a hard to find item. Can't beat the use for any and all medical dressings that are hard to get to stick, stay, etc. Perfect for First Aid to apply to a difficult wound to seal dressing until the hospital. Can't be without it for wound vac dressings or Wound Care in general! A mere fraction of the cost of Benzoin swabs... just use med cups and cotton swabs.
