Works Well.
I have two now and I got this because the first one has been a solid workhorse since I got it.

Works great. Fast. No complaints.
Works great. This reader ran my 64GB sdxc class 10 U3 cards to speed limit on speed read write tests. Quality build and looks and feels of high quality. Card fits firmly into slot, but thats a good thing as far as I am concerned. Does not fall out or wiggle. Reader was delivered very fast. I was surprised actually. Great device! Especially for transferring videos to tablets by way of microSD.
Works as expected and even better because I bought this to transfer large files back and forth for a Go Pro and my tablets. I often put MP4, MKV, and AVI videos on my tablets so I can watch tutorials, movies, tv shows, etc. However, most of the time when I attach the tablet to the computer by USB and transfer, it is EXTREMELY slow and worse, the tablet always asks if I want to convert the file (to what I don't know, it just always asks to convert). I say yes and a long time later when only half finished, it has an error. I think it has something to do with transferring to the tablet's main memory. By accident I discovered that by using this flash memory USB, I can simply put the tablet's microSD card into the adapter and cut and paste into the microSD directly, then put the microSD into the tablet and VOILA! Automatic easy access to the videos and no extra step asking for conversions or having failing transfers. It works perfectly and really, really, handy to have. Very fast! Great for tablets!

There are some bad batches QC misses but support is good
I've had one of these for a few years that I've kept as an as-needed reader for whatever machine i am using - no issues - speed has been decent and I've had no trouble with it. I got another one more recently that had the intermittent failure issue others have mentioned - my Linux (fedora) notebook makes a small clicky suodn when peripherals are disconnected, and it would connect and disconnect repeatedly, sometimes after 15 seconds, sometimes long enough that it seemed like a write or boot image would complete, only to fail.. Apparently some of these have made it through QC tests but have this problem. Support was quick to respond, asked me a few questions and sent me a replacement in less than a week after first contacting them. The new one works fine, so now I have one for home and one to take to work (and I sacrificed the failed one to the electronic fire gods). In short, there are bad batches but these folks take care of their customers. It's a good product for a great price. No regrets, I'd just recommend testing on a clean, lower-end card to confirm that you don't have the disconnect issue before moving on to regular use on critical projects.

Very good product for about $6
Sabrent Post Very, very good product for about $6, so do not hesitate to purchase them because they are so cheap. The recessed in a hole, very tiny diameter connected/activity blue LED located close to the plug end, stays on steady until a read/write activity makes it flash off/on/off at 2x/second. The cap only fits the plug end, looks overly dramatic, but it does fit very snug. I had nothing but great performance from the first one so I bought another one. They are inexpensive enough that your used-for-storage SDXC cards can have a permanent home in one, stored in your FlashDrive drawer. The full sized SD card sticking out the side means it will have to be installed first in an end port with room on the side. Also the width of the adapter's body can interfere on some twin USB port laptops with an adjacent flash drive plugged in if the FD is wider than a standard USB plug. With a 32 or 64GB SDXC card, this adapter and a USB3.0 capable motherboard you have a FAST, inexpensive, compact, reliable way to store important files locally, easily separated from your PC and/or transferred to another. Those SD cards take up very little space when stored, so using a 64GB or 128GB card for each PC (Desktop/Laptop/Netbook) disk image backup or important files makes sense. I have a 16GB SDXC card dedicated to running/installing 1.6GB Linux Mint .ISO distros via UNetBootin, which happens quick on USB3.0!! You can even use UNetBootin with the free download clonezilla, a partition and disk imaging/cloning program on the Sabrent adapter, for HDD to SSD replacements. It will only Boot diagnostic, repair, or OS installation programs from an SD card if it is run on newer computers or one's with more capabilities . . . rather than those with simplistic BIOS firmware like my old HP 17" Laptop that once had WinVista on it. I have 2 of these with 32GB SDXC cards (from Amazon) plugged into my desktop PC that is running Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3 for 5+ hours/day, every day for months, using them in place of a USB portable HDD or SSD. The full sized SD card and the adapter are always cool to the touch. Essentially I have 2 inexpensive, low powered SSD's that are much easier to transport or store.

Works quite well.
03/10/2015 - Update I purchased a faster PNY 128GB card rated at 40mbs and got much better performance so I am upping my rating to 5 stars. I have used this with my windows 8.1 laptop and my Galaxy Note 4 phone and Galaxy Tab S (using an OTG adapter). No issues on any device. Very happy with this purchase. On a side note, I have three of these Sandisk Ultra 64GB card and am having issues with all three of them certain readers. On my laptop reader (ACER laptop), none of the three SD cards could be read but this USB reader read all 3 fine. I've started the RMA process with SANDISK. We'll see how that goes. Thanks for the feedback on my review and the suggestions. I purchased this because the transfer rate on an old USB 2.0 dongle only passed data to my SanDisk Ultra 64GB Class 10 Micro SDXC Memory Card up to 8 mbs. I was hoping to see a better response with this USB 3.0 device and saw about a 10% increase in transfer rate. It worked but not any better than what I had. This does have a cap that fits well on to the top and I used it for my laptop as my SD reader on my laptop does not seem to read above a 32GB card. Need to try other USB adapters to see if it is the adapter or my SD cards.

There are better options available
This works OK. I used it to load up a C10 64G SD card full of MP3s. I got a decent average write rate of about 20Mbs, with peaks up above 30 on occasion, transferring from my external HD which is also a USB3.0 device. I tested a 32G microSD, also C10, and got slightly slower performance, averaging about 19Mbs. While the performance was acceptable, but hardly earthshattering, I did find the device's materials and construction a bit concerning. The plastic case and the cap are made of the thinnest of cheap plastic and feel way too flimsy to the touch. And who came up with the goofy cap design? Not being able to pop the cap onto the other end while in use is going to end up with me losing the cap, in no time at all. While this is usable as it sits, I don't really think I would consider buying another one or recommending anyone else buy one. There are better options available. Probably 2 1/2 stars for meh. But I'm feeling generous tonight so I'll round up to 3 stars.

It's small form factor makes it easy to place in your bag or pocket
Video and Photography users know that their SD card is what holds their most prized expressions. The actual camera and settings play a huge part in how you present your creations but the little card you place inside the camera is the medium through which you deploy your creation. The Sabrent Superspeed USB Memory Card Reader offers a convenient way to connect your SD card to a PC or Apple computer. It's small form factor makes it easy to place in your bag or pocket, making the conveniency factor higher up on the scale. Why could this be important? If you're the one whose is working mobile a lot you don't want to waste time searching for your SD card reader, place this guy in your pant pocket or the outer pockets of your bag for quick access. Compatibility wise i've used 3 different SD cards from different manufactures without any issues. This reader worked on my desktop PC built on a 6th Gen Intel chipset as well as my Mac Mini (2014) and Macbook Pro 13" (2016). Structure wise the cap is plastic which is OKAY, but be cautious if you leave it on the ground and accidentally step on it - stuff happens. One "gripe" I have with this (along with every other reader) is the protrusion of your SD card when you connect it to the reader. Not a big deal at all, it's more of a form over function debate but it would be nice to have a reader where you can insert it completely into the enclosure, providing more seamless design that works with the reader and not against it. All in all for $6.99 (Feb 2017) this is a great way to transfer your photos/videos to a computer that does not have a built in SD card slot. Now if only they offered different colors =). Thanks for reading!
