Extra Large Silicone Baking Mat for Pastry Rolling Dough with Measuremen (q) (A)

I have recently gotten into cooking with no background, and I wanted a good and affordable baking mat to knead my pizza dough on. I used it for the first time a few days and I was highly impressed. The whole mat is even bigger than I thought which is excellent for kneading and shaping the dough. The measurements are great as well helping making the dough with the right size.The silicone is super soft, thin and flexible but it does not feel cheap or flimsy (it somewhat resembles the material of a gym ball but much thinner). The mat sticks well to my counter top and doesn’t move at all. I was surprised that my dough wasn’t sticking a lot to the mat as well. Even when I was kneading the dough, the mat wouldn’t lift or move at all. The dough scrapper is light and sharp as well and the spatula is good (but a bit small especially if you have a big dough).My recommendations:> The mat is super easy to clean but It’s a bit difficult to wash it if you have a small kitchen sink (as in my case) because the mat is large so I wash my mat in the shower so it doesn’t make a mess in the kitchen. If you have a small kitchen sink, wash it in the shower. You can wash it in the dishwasher but it’s still too big for my dishwasher!> I don’t recommend using a super sharp knife on it to cut the dough. Make sure you use the scrapper that comes with it. It’s sharp but not super sharp or thin to cut the mat.> When you open the mat for the first time, it has a silicone/plastic smell (similar to a gym ball). Wash it with hot water and soap before you use it for the first time and the smell will go away.Overall, I’m very happy with this mat and I’m buying another one for my mom. I recommend it to everyone else as well.

I had to replace my old Tupperware mat and didn't want to have to do the party thing to get one. So I trusted reviews on this mat and was not disappointed. It felt deceivingly flimsy at first, but the floppiness is not to be misconstrued as non-durable. It's tough stuff, cleans easily, and stores well when folded. The Tupperware mat was stiff, thick, and eventually formed a crease down the middle. I don't know if a crease will be formed in this one, but I won't fold or roll it the same way every time I use it, just to avoid a crease possibility. What I really loved about it is that it didn't slip on the counter like the Tupperware mat did. (I always had to anchor it down with heavy things on the corners to keep it from moving.) This little mat adhered so well! I hate to admit this, but I didn't know what the scraper that came with the mat was until I began to remove the "leftovers" from the first crust, before rolling out the second crust. I realized then that the scraper was necessary to get rid of any stuck on crust before going on the the second one. Obviously, I'm not a mechanical genius. Overall, I would highly recommend this mat, which I don't consider expensive. It was worth every penny.

This review is ‘just out of the box’ yapping, but the first thing I’m hit with when it comes to silicone is the smell that some of these things have.This is 100% odorless...As any food grade item should be...(hint, hint Amazon sellers)I will update this review for durability once I use it.I appreciate the two extras that came with it as I only had a stainless dough scraper for use on my countertop.Have to keep it real...I’m a 5 year bread maker when using new gadgets...I had NO IDEA what the green squiggly thing was for when I first saw it. I thought, ‘Oh, another new pastry thingy.’My husband asked what is was as soon as I unpacked it...’I don’t know, it came with the mat.’I must confess...I wouldn’t have guessed it was a tie for the mat...I probably would’ve used it for cinching something I baked...Knocking the walls down to the big 60 and I get a tingle in my brain when I learn something knew, or what something ‘new’ is used for. When I first got it, it was stuck to itself. Now, I roll it up with a towel behind it. It isn’t as thick as I would like, but I like the ruler on the side is useful. The scraper is perfect for diving up rolls. It is a good size for most rolling out needs.

I bought this mat for bread baking. I bake 3-6 loaves of artisan bread a week for family and friends and the mat fits my little home very nicely. Many people have reported the dough will not stick to the mat but my experience is that it all depends on the percent of hydration in your product. If you bake products containing enough liquid the dough will stick to the mat just as it would any other surface. Since the mat is not permanently placed, when dough sticks the mat it gets a bit frustrating to use however, I gave it 5 stars since with patience, I learned to work with it quite easily.

I used my new mat this morning to make bread. It is AWESOME! When I rolled the mat out, it stayed where I put it.Flattened out with no problems. The dough did not stick at all to the silicon mat. Made kneading and shaping it so easy! The silicon, while thicker than most mats, is very flexible so gathering up the edges and pouring the excess flour in trash was a no-mess job. I love the tools that came with it also. The dough scraper was great along with the silicon tie for rolling and storing the mat while not in use. I am going to buy more of these for gifts!

This amazing mat will change your life! It does all that is described, way beyond my expectations! I've used for pizza dough, pie crusts, biscuits and it has made my life SO much easier. Nothing sticks to it. No messy damp flour to clean on the counter, no flour or oil needed at all. You can roll it up or fold for storage and it always lays out flat. No curved up edges or creases. Cleans super easy. Can't say enough about this mat! Where has it been all my life?!

The mat is rather large but that's great for mixing dough on the kitchen counter. The overall kit is lightweight but the spatula is too lightweight as the blade is so flimsy that it broke in half while mixing beignet dough the first time out of the packaging. The dough cutter is strong though and works as expected.
