Surprisingly good for the price. I was so disappointed when my DeWalt DCF680 that i have been using for auto repair for the last 7 years, finally bit the dust, and found that they no longer even make a good screwdriver. The replacement DeWalt unit is a subpar, usb c charging, brand new has-been without a replaceable battery. This unit however is two speed, has plenty of power compared to the old DeWalts, and is actually a little bit slimmer. Ergonomically speaking, i think my DeWalt DCF680 was a little bit better, but it doesn't really bother me that much. This item is definitely longer than the DeWalt, but like all cordless screwdrivers (except for the new DeWalt) you can fold it for more clearance. The only thing i find lacking compared to the DCF680 is the folding mechanism. The old DeWalts have a rotating handle, this is difficult to describe in words, needless to say, it was basically impossible to fold over the DeWalt handle by accident. If you had it straight, it was staying straight, if you folded it, it was staying folded. I don't know if DeWalt patented this, or if I'm the only person that likes it, or what, because their new screwdrivers don't have it at all. The only issue i can find with this item is the light. It is not bright enough, it's poorly located, does not automatically activate when your using the screwdriver, and has a tiny little button to turn it on and off. In my opinion, Hitachi could have had an even better product, had they just eliminated the light all together. Overall this is a very, VERY good product, in a market filed with usb c charging garbage, that's only real propose in life is some kind of low stakes electronics repair, or taking apart a rumba just to see what's inside. This screwdriver is actually usable in a professional sense, and it seems to be the last option left on Amazon. I am seriously considering buying a second one while they are still available.

This little power driver has amazing torque, flexible handle for getting into places, two batteries always nice. I bought to use on my small manual coffee grinder (1/4" socket) and it works perfect, use daily for a couple years. Build quality, battery life, flexibility all good.

My go-to screwdriver is a Milwaukee M12 2401 driver, but for some tasks it is a bit of overkill, and unless an extension is used the pistol grip design can be cumbersome in tight workspaces. I have other Hitachi/Metabo tools so I felt confident giving this cordless screwdriver a try. There are a few pros, and a couple of cons. On the good side of the ledger, at 17 ounces it is exactly half the weight of the Milwaukee. Also good, there is a protective sleeve on the handle which keeps your hand from getting pinched when folding into the pistol configuration. That feature isn't shown on the Amazon pictures, but I've included a shot of it, as have some other reviewers. If you hate it you can easily remove it. The collar has to be pulled away from the chuck to insert or remove bits, which is a two hand job unless you're really dexterous. But it locks up well and there is very little play in the bit once installed. Lastly, it seems well made and is comfortable in the hand. On the not so good side of things, I think it is primarily a right hander's tool. In the straight configuration and held in either hand, the rocker switch that controls the tool's rotation is positioned so that it falls naturally under the user's thumb. But in the pistol configuration it might be awkward for a lefty. The collar that adjusts the clutch setting is exceptionally stiff and hard to rotate. That may loosen up a bit with time, but it is easily the least user-friendly clutch collar I've experienced. There is a LED light to illuminate the work, but it relies on a dedicated on/off switch in the handle. It must be turned on when needed and will stay on until you turn it off, or if you forget, when the battery runs down. It does an adequate job illuminating the work. In summary, if you need a versatile cordless driver for light to moderate work, this might be the ticket. Personally I would not want it to be my only driver, but I think it will do well when I don't need the power of something bigger.

That's my second one in 25 years, excellent driver for limited torque requirements. Ideal driver for HVAC, electrician and small jobs everywhere and everyday. My prior Hitachi stayed in my tool box at my arms reach always. My highest recommendations for this superb tool. Of course it's not projected to drive 3 in lag screws.

This is by far the best cordless screwdriver I've used. This was branded as Hitachi many years ago but changed to Metabo. I have a few Hitachi branded versions that I purchased more than a decade ago and they are still working. Mainly used these in data centers and server integrations. These can take a beating as I've dropped few of these from 4 to 5 foot and they still work. Great thing about this is the battery design remains the same as the battery in this latest version still fits the one I had over a decade ago.

This is my 3rd Hitachi / Metabo drill screwdriver. Got my 1st one (a Hitachi) as a gift from my kids about 20 years ago and thought: "That's pretty lazy if you need to use an electric screwdriver!" But after a few uses, that's pretty much all I use! Fits in my carpenter jean rule pocket, a set of bits and sockets and I'm ready for almost anything! No, it doesnt have the torque to drive in deck screws (yes, it'll remove them but wont drive them into virgin wood- unless you pre-drill a pilot hole) I pretty much wore out my first Hitachi. It still works ok but pretty beat up! LED doesnt work (the switch) but it keeps torquing away perfectly! Sometimes it bites my hand when it goes from straight to pistol grip but it keeps chugging along! Finally decided to get another one and retire this Hitachi! Well... Hitachi sold and changed names to Metabo! Same product- kinda snazzed up but definately cheaper plastic! Thinner, motor is somewhat slower and less torque than the Hitachi- but basically works just the same! Great unit! Out of all the electric screwdrives I checked out, thios one it tops. ALL the batteries are the same 3.6v - plenty adequate. I did replace the charger unit with a smaller one and relegated the original Hitachi driver to my 'go-box' tool bag in my truck (I have a couple of rental units) Decided to get yet another one- while they're still available. Amazon keeps playing with the price- up and down- and this time when they dropped the price- and had a coupon discount too- I jumped at it! Great, practical and useful tool. Maybe I did get 'lazy' in my old age but once you use it, you'll use it often! Now that I have 3 of these, I have one in my house garage, one in my shop and one in the truck so I dont have to go searching for one! Now I have 6 batteries that only take about 30 min to recharge and seems to last quite a while. It's a great product. Not as 'solid' as the original Hitachi but certainly not one of those cheap flimsy generic Chinese no name screwdrivers! If I needed another one- or needed to give one as a gift, I'd certainly get another on of these. Hopefully, these Metabo's will last as long as the original Hitachi stuff!

Just as good as the former Hitatchi brand. Clutch works great so as to not strip any screws. This is definitely a best in class screwdriver. The packaging is very nice and comes with a sturdy plastic case. A worthwhile purchase for sure.

Great little screwdriver kit that I use around the house and on my RC cars. The ability to change the torque is great so you don't over do it. The batteries last very long as well, I can do several RC events on a single charge without loosing functionality.

Great ptoduct, I bought it because my hands are incapable of using a screw driver anymore. This cordless screwdriver allows me to do the jobs with no effort. Only bad point was that it was 110v and required me to buy a transformer in order to recharge. Apart from that its a 10/10.

This tool is an electrical screwdriver with adjustable torque settings, designed to be used on small electrical appliances, audio & video equipement, alarm system installation, RC cars repairs, and other such light work activities, not at all designed to put up dry walls or assemble outdoor patios and spas (there are other heavier power tools for that). It is of an excellent rugged build quality and very affordable when compared to similar products of other well-known brands. Metabo (Htachi), while being possibly less known than other brands, is a long time power tool manufacturer comparable to Makita, Skills, Milwaukee and other big names. 2 year warranty, including local support, 2 batteries, charger, carrying case, quick-release socket tip, front on-off LED, lightweight (relatively speaking, as it weights about a pound), angled or straight handling, and two speeds (I'm always on the low). I have one at home to work on my RC cars, and one at work for electronic/mechanic assembly work. If you think that it will fit your needs, then buy it, you will absolutely love it! FYI, I also own a small and very quiet oil-less compressor from Metabo, and it too is very well built and well priced (and fully serviceable). July 2021 UPDATE - after several months of usage: still loving it as much as the first day, and enjoying it every single time I use it! ! : ) 100% recommended!

This is a top piece of kit, easily as good as any other industrial grade screw driver (Matabo used to be Hitachi/HiKoki), it fits any 1/4" bit, is ergonomic, and seeing as a correct charger can be obtained from another source "rhymes with OldBay" for about £15? You still get one of the best makes for under a ton. Bargain by my calculations.
