Does not work with yarn, only embroidery thread.
I had hoped to use this with thin yarn, but it's only meant for embroidery thread. The screw top lets you set and keep the depth you want. You need to make the cloth super taught in order for it to work. I struggled with the basic plastic rings I already had. Some sort of non slip super grip fabric ring is a must. Once I had the fabric super taught it worked fine.

I wouldn't buy if I was you . One it's not a embroidery pen. Before you buy it look up videos on it . I started using and its broke on me .but anything else was nice but the pen

Save your money.
Cheap tool that doesn't work well. Cheap fabric that isn't worth working on. Lots of floss I can use for other things made it worth keeping, but otherwise I would have sent it back. Junk. Don't waste your money on this.
