My laptop sits vertically and shut (connected to a monitor). Would this fan work for me standing up next to the laptop?

I have another version of this type of cooler (I intend to buy this one also).  I have my laptop as you state, in an aluminum vertical stand.  I have this cooler setup to blow across the intake (backside) of my laptop.  My laptop is for work, and I'll say, it works well.  The cooler is decently quiet, however, as stated, mine is slightly different then this model.

Is it compatible with dl g5 5500?

I would guess that a gaming laptop venting hot air out the back  will not work well with this system unless the rear of the laptop was up over the fan itself
