Are any of the 225 reviews actually for the grinder or just some unlisted French press?

The issue people are raising is about a "grind setting" for use in a "French Press" style coffee maker. This grinder works nicely for "drip" and "espresso" grinds, I produces a very fine to moderate grind. But I cannot produce a coarser grind for use in a French Press, this I seems to be an issue for this grinder. Unless the burr can somehow be adjusted beyond what the rotary dial indicates for a coarse grind.

People mention the French Press beccause you need a consistent coarse grind. It's easy to find a blade grinder that does a fine grind, so French Press users struggle to find a burr grinder which does the job and doesn't corst an arm and a leg.

How difficult or easy is it to thoroughly clean the secura scg-903b automatic electric burr coffee grinder mill?

Relatively easy - The burr spins off for easy access. The bin rinses easily enough 2-piece lid & bin portion with water. As for the grounds/grinds which occasional spill/drop out onto the counter top - Its not many thereby making a thorough mess type thing, it is not. My old Krupp/Braun grinders, I thought were messier...

can it be used as a spice grinder?

If you set it to the finest setting, it might, but you would be spending a lot of money to figure out that it didn't work. A normal, $15 or $20 conventional, rotary blade grinder would be better money spent. Or on something that is a dedicated spice grinder.
