Convert "Youth Size" to "Adult Size" before ordering
My daughters have been wearing this type of ballet shoe for years with no complaints. They're comfortable and reasonably good quality. I want to comment on the sizing issue, though. If you're buying for a child who wears a youth size 1 to 4.5 you must convert the size to an adult women's size by going up 2 sizes, otherwise it will be too small. So, for example, my older daughter wears a youth size 4 so she wears a size 6 in these shoes. My younger daughter wears a youth size 3 street shoe, so we order an adult women size 5 for her ballet shoes. Hope this helps someone :)

or wear them consistently to get a nice custom fit
I paid attention to the reviews to get an idea of the right size to buy, but, unless there is inconsistency in the manufacturing, I can only conclude that customers just expect ballet shoes to fit differently than they actually do. I ordered my normal shoe size and they fit perfectly. I tightened the elastic and retied it to customize the fit. I also read concerns about no difference between right and left -- but there aren't supposed to be -- you can either alternate to enhance the longevity of the shoe (they wear more on the big toe side), or wear them consistently to get a nice custom fit. These seem well-made and durable, and the elastic strap is placed correctly. They've made it successfully through my rugged Scottish Country Dancing class and I fit right in with these.

Good dance shoe
I was totally confused about the size from both the reviews on Amazon and on the Capezio website. I wear an 8N or 8M street shoe, depending on the cut of the shoe. The last pair of Capezios I bought (made in USA a LONG, LONG time ago) was a 7M. After reading the reviews I decided to try the 7.5M. I would definitely say the 8M would have been better. I must say I prefer Capezios to other ballet flats because the toe area is more widely cut and round. I tried Bloch's and they pinched my toes even after stretching. Will get this shoe again only in the size 8. The shoe is comfortable and the leather is nice and soft.

Awesome!!!
These shoes came earlier than expected and fit very well. I bought my regular shoe size which is 10 and it fits perfectly. The quality is great but the sides kind of stick out when I bend my foot which I assume probably won't affect my dancing but if it does I'll update my review.

Cute Beginner's Shoe
These shoes are great for beginner dancers, the full sole, the more economic leather - it smells GREAT though, the thing I love most about this pair. I do realize that Capezio's other ballet slipper, Teknik, is of similar leather but has a softer and thicker bottom sole and better internal lining. I suppose the Teknik is a one up for a more serious dancer. I wear a size 7 street size and have tried 8 but it is too wide and long. The elastic is way too loose. So I am returning those and going down to a 7.5 (7 was too small). I thought we were supposed to go up way more than 0.5 size but...I guess that's just the way it works for me! I am a pretty consistent size 7 and I have normal width feet. I may choose to stick with Teknik or try another brand. Bloch's Dansoft and Pro-Lite fit better on me (in size 5.5).

I purchased these for weaving. I am a 9 ...
I purchased these for weaving. I am a 9 1/2 women's in shoe size. I purchased a 10 W. It fit snugly in the toe but not too tight. It gapped slightly but snugged up when I adjusted the cords in front. I have a high instep and the overstrap was not too tight.

Order 2 sizes larger than your child’s street shoe size.
Wonderful shoe. My daughters ballet masters have asked that the students wear solid leather shoes with solid soles (no split soles) because they strengthen the feet. These are exactly as pictured. My daughter wears a child’s street size 2 (she’s 9 yo) and we ordered the women’s 4. Fit great with a bit of room for growth.

Nice shoe
This is a nice ballet shoe. Perfect for year 2 of ballet. There were a lot of comments about the fit with these so when I ordered, I ordered 3 different sizes at once, hoping we'd find a fit. And we did with the 6 1/2. I can't offer advice on how to pick your child's size. My daughter is 9 yrs. old and is 4' 6". I recently bought her a pair of boots in a big kid size 5. At about the same time I bought her a new pair of tennis shoes and those were a women's size 7. She is growing faster than I can keep up. Someone else's advice helped the most: take the child shoe size and add 2 and that is the adult size you should get. If you can, I recommend ordering 2 or 3 different sizes and send back what doesn't fit.
