My new favorite filtration kit
I had read that the included squeeze bags aren't that great and can break easily, so I swapped it out for a Dunkive 2L squeeze bag instead. The flow feels pretty good. With this combo, I can realistically filter about 70oz in about 2 minutes. The filter and bag together weigh only about 5 or 6oz and packs down tiny. Filters faster and is a much lighter, smaller package than the Grayl and MSR filters I've used. Will have to see how it performs in the field, but I'm happy so far.Update July 2026:This filter works well but caring for it is tedious. There's is a fine line between it filtering well or nearly not at all, and that line is determined by how well it is prepped before use and flushed after use. I used this filter in the fall 2025 to filter some lake water that wasn't muddy or silty. I flushed the filter with tap water after use and dried thoroughly before storage. Fast forward to a multi-day backpacking trip this summer and the filter would hardly filter any water at all. No matter how hard I squeezed, I could only get a few drops out of it. After waiting a day, it seemed to work a little better but still very restricted. I ended up using it in a gravity fed configuration to filter water over time while I went and did other things. 5 of us on the trip had these filters and 3 of us experienced this issue.Lessons learned: After returning home and doing some research, I ended up soaking the filter in warm vinegar for 30 minutes to breakup any buildup. I then used a smart water bottle and the sp150 coupler to forcefully flush the filter with distilled water. Online resources said flushing with tap water could clog the filter with mineral deposits. A lot of debris came out, but seemed to clear up after using about 2L of water and was flowing normally again. Further research seemed to indicate that these filters need to be soaked in water to properly activate the filter fibers before use. If I do all these things perfectly, hopefully the filter will continue working for many more years!

Does the job
Has good flow and doesn't take forever to get a drink, unlike the smaller sized one. Great product

Even I Can Use It
I am not an outdoor enthusiast by any means. But I do believe in being prepared. I was putting together an emergency evacuation Go Bag and wanted a water filter that was reliable and easy to understand how to use. I watched a number of youtube videos and saw that the Sawyer was recommended over and over. Even I can understand how to use it. So I got one for my bag and one for my husband's bag. I practiced with the product and it really is easy. Impressed with how tiny it is, too.

Gold standard for water filtration and great corporate ethics.
Sawyer products are the gold standard for water filtration. If you follow their maintenance instructions, it should last you near forever. Plus, Sawyer uses their profits to make safe drinking water in 3rd world countries, so your purchase helps some of the most vulnerable communities to water borne diseases. It’s a win win!

Small filter, convenient to use, kinda slow.
I have used this filter on multiple backpacking trips including a 12 day trek. I like how small and lightweight it is. I had previously been using a Sawyer mini and I prefer this one. Having threads on both sides it a gamechanger.I docked this filter one star because the flow rate. I was filtering water next to a friend with a normal Sawyer squeeze and he was done in half the time. In hindsight, the weight savings is probably not worth spending an extra 5 minutes squeezing a water bag. If you are super ultralight, maybe it is.I ditched the included bag and picked up a CNOC 2L vecto. You should do the same. You can also ditch the syringe and purge using clean water from your bottle or bag.

No Flow Arrow on Side of Filter
SAWYER: FIX YOUR MOLD AND CAST AN ARROW INDICATING FLOW ONTO THE OUTSIDE OF THE FILTER BODY!C'mon Sawyer, I know you think this thing is intuitive -- how could anyone not know which way the filter flows? Even your help videos show arrows on filters, but this filter doesn't have any arrows on it.That aside, seems good and has good flow using a gravity setup.

I Love This Thing
Amazon has a "flavor" rating for this product? There're no flavor to it at all, which is perfect! :-)After nearly 20 years of backpacking and using many filters (which have, thankfully, evolved tremendously over that time) this is my new hands-down favorite. It's nearly as light as the Sawyer Mini that it's replacing, and the flow rate is easily double that of the Mini. Both of these parameters are import because I'm now filling my hydration packs with unfiltered water and have installed this Sawyer Micro Squeeze in-line between the bag and the bite valve. I give the bladder a little squeeze to get the first water through the system, and everything flows well after that.If you're wondering about the practical logistics of this setup, you should know that I'm now using a 1.5L bladder front-mounted to my pack's shoulder strap. This has the dual benefits of easy access and providing a counterbalance to the weight on my back. For routes where water is more scarce, I can mount a second 1.5L bag to the other shoulder strap. I know. Let the brassiere jokes begin. :-) But it works, and this little filter makes it practical.

Clogs quickly and back flushing won’t fix it.
This starts off with a great flow rate but it clogs quickly and no amount of back flushing improves this.It will probably be fine for ordinary backpacking adventures but for long term use, it’s just not cutting it.I’m using this for a thru hike of the PCT. I’m just shy of 600 miles and I just purchased my third one.Flow rate is great as long as the water going through it is crystal clear to start with but as soon as you put through buggy or silty water, the flow rate reduces. Back flushing does not help.Pros. They thing is small. It’s a great weight savings but also bulk savings. It’s just that much less annoying at the top of your smart water bottle when trying to stow it away in your side pockets.I’m sticking with my third one as long as I can get water out of it but then will probably switch back to my full size squeeze.

Great system but the Squeeze bag is completely unreliable
I used this on a recent 17 day hike in outback Australia. The filtration system itself worked really well but the squeeze bag failed at the seams around the nozzle on the first use. I tried to do repairs on the track with some tape but it was not salvageable. Unless the squeeze bag is upgraded to something useable and reliable, it would be better not to include this at all in the package.
