Now that's what I'm talking about!
This assorted set of charcoal is wonderful. The quality is superior to any other charcoal on the market that I have used in the past. I would definitely recommend this product to any other artist that takes their artwork seriously.

Like all charcoal, you need to sand to your desired point. This box has 4 lovely thickness or hardness styles, 2 each. Very good value.

Such smooth charcoal
Incredible charcoal. Rich. Buttery. Wonderful.

Nice product.
I like the product. It works well. I recommend that you give it a try. Nitram charcoal was recommended by a drawing instructor. I also saw Cesar Santos use it in a video. Before deciding to order I talked with a few artists, but none were familiar with the product. None of the usual art supply stores carry Nitram in-store. It is only available online. I gave it four stars because it is a little overpriced through Amazon. However, since I have Amazon Prime there was no shipping charges, this was the most cost-effective method for me to make a small art materials purchase.

Poor Quality charcoal.
The soft works OK and the medium and heart are useless.

Unimpressive
Saw some articles online saying these were great and I really wanted to try a more firm charcoal. They're not very good. They're very scratchy and not nearly as good quality as the "general's" wood-cased charcoal I'm used to. Also, maybe I'm blind but there's no indication on the sticks or the box as to what the color wrapper means as far as the softness of the charcoal. I can guess but there's little difference between the soft ones. The hardest you can definitely tell.

Rough
A little hard to use. The sound is very abrasive. Needs something else going on like nice music as you work.
