These are metal plates and are not magnets. However, if placed on the outside of a phone case, they will attach firmly to a magnetic phone holder with a strong grip.

Worked great. Cell phone stays on my car phone holder without slipping. I put it between the phone and the case.

The magnets were perfectly fine for the first three weeks, then they started becoming less sticky and my phone began to fall off of my magnetic gooseneck car mount. I believe the adhesive may not be a strong enough adhesive. It was easy to install, I just wiped my phone case off and placed it on. The amount of magnets was good enough value for money, The material is not plastic, it's very thin small metal plates. And the quality of the build, isn't amazing, but like I said, it's good enough for what I paid for it.
